We're going to launch one of these threads a month. And down the months and years, we'll build up not only a mugshot parade of the Whitechapel crew -- but also, for those who choose to participate monthly, there'll be a record of how we all change and grow (and in my case age horribly).

Obviously, I encourage participation from everyone, even if you're just joining the place. This thread is certainly NOT just for the old lags. In fact, the more new faces the better.

So. Take a photo of yourself and post it (if you're not sure how -- you put a photo on the web somewhere, a free hosting site like Flickr or Photobucket or your LJ gallery if you use LJ -- Blogger image hosting won't work -- and click the "img" button above to put the address of the image in, the http://) here.

I'll get to mine once I'm, you know... piss off, I'm busy...

I had a hotel room with one of those saucy showers that had a glass wall looking into the bedroom, so I naturally took many pics of myself in what is effectively a glass box. Timing it was a bit tricky, of course. I need to start travelling with assistants, but people act as if my mere presence isn't payment enough. Shocking!

@odaelisabeth You are so very nice; thank you. That's an impressively good id photo. Mine are always hilariously bad. My health care card actually looks like I have orange skin and am wearing a sponge on my head. I can do little to explain it.

And I know just what you mean.
I always felt like I'm not very photogenic. In fact, I still do. Which might seem super bizarre in light of all my self portraits, but actually that's what made me such a great person to practice on.
That isn't to say that I don't like the way I look (because I really do. I love me! Ha HA! No one is surprised by this news!). But sometimes it takes a lot before I get that shot that I'm content with.

@Oda-I tend to look serious because my lip does a strange Elvis-type sneer when I smile (unless it's a huge smile) and it makes me self conscious.

Here's yesterday's self portrait, it's not too serious :) I was making faces at my daughter who was making them back--it was fun.

@V-One of the reasons that I'm doing a 365 project is because I usually don't like the way that I look and this is forcing me to become more comfortable in front of the camera. It's an exercise in self-acceptance. I also go through a ton of shots to get one that I like, thank goodness for the delete button.

I missed March's SPIT, which is too bad, I have a wonderful picture of me with a rocket at Nasa's Space Center Houston. Everyone knows rockets are big... but you don't realize how big until you stand next to one and see that even if you cloned yourself four times and all stood on each others shoulders you would still not reach the circumference of ONE of the engines... It was marvelous.

For these, I was inspired by thewaltonsare and her lovely glam pic, only I didn't want to mute the colors as much as she did. This is what resulted and I'm rather pleased.

Purple shirt and big hair = me. Obviously not selfs, but from a great set played by Double Dagger in Philly. The second one's crowd surfer is from a random West Philly dude who shows up at pretty much all the free-ish shows in West Philly, dances a lot, annoys people, and is genuinely crazy. But he seems to have a great time, so there's that. Despite the look of silly indifference on my face, I was having an awesome time. The show got shut down by cops/the university later on in the night, so I really hope that it gets to happen again next year (it's an annual thing). Good time was had by all.

I like Migracell by DermaMed. It's a balm. It by no means gets rid of my migraine, but it does take the edge off a little. I've recommended it to quite a number of fellow migraineurs, and a very solid majority of them find it soothing.
When you have a chance to see your doctor, perhaps ask about the triptan family of drugs and whether any of those might be suitable for you.

Given that I teach teenage boys for a living, I usually go out of my way to avoid having cleavage, but here goes . . .

From a portrait photo shoot where I modeled for a friend (yes, I know, I break the rule of self-portrait rather often). This is a draft of the final thing (which is stunningly shot/composed/edited) and was modeled on a specific hollywood glamour shot from the 40s or 50s. Edit: this particular one was while she was figuring out the lighting for the final few shots.

I had a giant fist-sized bruise on my left hipbone when I first started learning to hoop dance. Never had I imagined that I would bruise so much from hoola hooping, and it appeared over a matter of hours (granted the hoops we use are heavy). I also bruise super easily, and between learning to hoop dance and SCA sword fighting, I once had a total of 26 bruises all over my body.

Good luck with your ankle sneak! That does not look the least bit fun.

Ahh, sneak, you could do alright in the halves, or you could be a pocket rocket winger. You don't need to be big if you've got technique and skill - although size seems to be premised at the loss of that these days unfortunately, probably because there's some kind of belief that smaller people won't be able to tackle, but that belief mainly comes about as we've got a lot of fellows with piss-poor technique who like to do "the big hits". Your football injury also begs to differ that you're not hard enough. I hope the ankle heals up quick.

If there's a position in rugby that means I get the ball where no-one else is around and I'm no danger of having my face stomped into the mud, that'd be the one for me. Sadly a psychotic (aren't they all?) PE teacher completely turned me off the sport by being a total dick (I do remember scoring a try once though, when I was about 13).

@Fan - Thanks for the concern. I can walk and bend my ankle, but if I'm not seeing any improvement in the next couple of days I will do, definitely. I'm more of a "it's just a flesh wound, it'll get better" type of person, and usually need bullying into just seeing my GP. Except if there's blood. I'm not good with blood.

First of all: I'm just a Medic, and am as such limited in my knowledge. We do get a fair amount of these type of injuries from soldiers though. Normally I'd just wrap it up and get some ice on it, depending on the mobility, the 'feel' of the foot, and the levels of pain - I'd either send him off to the doctor, or let him keep going with his foot bandaged. (Also depending on where we are, and who it is, obviously - medevacing someone who doesn't need to run a lot over a painful foot is not always a good idea. But I rant.

- anyways -

As long as you can walk on it, bend your ankle in all the appropriate ways (full circle) and the swelling goes down - you're probably good, if the pain doesn't diminish though, an x-ray, or better yet - MRI, might be advisable. Ligament injury isn't entirely out of the question mind you, but it's a little tricky to judge that based on a photo. ;)

If it were more recently after the injury I'd recommend a pressure-bandage and ice, and lifting it.. as it is, a supportive bandage might not be a bad idea, (If the ligaments are a little damaged, loose, and you fall - they may get furthermore fucked up. It'll also relieve stress from the ligament, and therefore - pain.) Aside from that, some Non-Steroid Anti-inflammatories, might be a good idea. (Ibuprofen-type painkillers)

With the amount of bruising you had (have) though, I would be very careful to exclude the possibility of ligament injury, (and therefore the possibility of permanent damage to the ligament) ..without having a medical professional, preferably a doctor with a big machine - take a look at it.

I'm just a Medic, mind you - and am as such limited in my knowledge.

Oh and don't walk on it too much, let it rest. This is VERY important - and you may reference this to your girlfriend if need be. ;)

@Philip - cheers for the advice dude, Doctor or not I'd imagine you've got more knowledge about this stuff than the average geezer.

This isn't the first time I've done something like this (being an ex-BMX and Mountain Biker I've had my fair share of bumps and bruises...)so I followed the old Rest Ice Compression Elevation (RICE) formula as soon as I got home that night..

I'm office based at work so I'm not really moving around a great deal anyway, but I have got a support bandage on and took the precaution of necking a couple of ibuprofen just in case...and will undoubtedly referring to your advice if the girl gets antsy about my constant demands...

I've got most of my full circle movement now, and the swelling is diminishing a touch. I am a little concerned about potential ligament damage though, having had a few ankle gahs in the past that I left untreated....so if I don't see any improvements I'll be heading into the NHS walk-in centre to get someone to poke me with their instruments.

but anyway, sorry for hijacking the thread. Perhaps I should whip my moobs out and get us back to normal programming...
