Great episode! Hope things are better with you, Warren.
I love the FA's jubilation at the end as they manage to FIX something for once, rather than destroy something else. Especially Arkady's expression.

My week was so-so. My weekend will be great. Club Fangtasia tonight, Gotham 11 (festival in Islington feat. The Eden House and Clan of Xymox) tomorrow, Club Reptile tomorrow night and then off to Bristol on Sunday to visit my sister, bro-in-law and my little nephew! Can't wait although I'm going to be a zombie next week!

Mark is in a "bubble?" tossed (?) away, and still (?) alive ? .... so. He'll be back. ( ? )
Without the miracle of animation that's a real challenge to show them fixing the damage.
Especially in only 5 frames. But even animation needs a constant reference to one object.

How could they not know about Luke and the gun-battle ?
Well they DO look happy at making the situation right.
Maybe this will be the new order of things !

I am beating this week as hard as I can with this here baseball bat and it still won't go down. The good: mr Script Frenzy is going like gangbusters. The less-or-differently good: I'm starting to slip back into a smoker's lifestyle. It's only one per week or less...right now. If it gets worse I'll deal with it.

Ah, they fixed something! I can't wait to see what happens next with Mark, but what are they going to do with Luke? As always, this issue leaves me happy, questioning, and wanting more.

My eyes are now burning from the computer screen. This week has been hellish and I've not had enough sleep. Should not stay out past 10 on a "school" night.

How could they not know about Luke and the gun-battle ?

It does start to get complicated, doesn't it? It's been established since Book One that Jack and Sirkka have a special link, so she knows what's going on with him at all times on an emotional level. So we see her responding to the shooting as it happens due to that empathic link. But does that mean that she "SEES" the scene like we do? I'm not so sure. When Jack was attacked in Book One, Sirkka told KK that she thought Jack was in trouble, but she didn't tell her where Jack was or what his specific situation was, because I don't think she knew. In Book Two, she tells Luke that she felt his emotions as he was pushing on Janine, but she didn't give enough clues to suggest she knew the whole truth, only that she suspected it. In Book Three, when she felt Luke do it again, she only vaguely mentioned to Kait that he was doing it to somebody, and she didn't find him in time to stop the rape.

Karl told Connor that "Luke's dead and I can see it." That's not exactly the same thing as "Luke's dead and I saw how it went down." Karl was busy changing the weather at that moment. The sun came out, Luke got startled and dropped his defenses. The next second, BOOM. Ten seconds later, BLAM.

@josta59 - After seeing Arkady teleport multiple times, and seeing many of them use their powers to heal wounds, and so on - I think it's relatively safe to say that manipulating the molecular structure of objects is something they're pretty handy with, and getting better at all the time - especially working together.

I've always had the impression that the 'shields' they put up are really nothing more than them making the air 'solid' ( for lack of a better word ) in such a manner.

Before long they could all be rather like a whole gang of Dr. Manhattan's. That is a spooky thought.

[ edit for additional thought: We've also seen Kait try to bring dead things back to life more than once, with less than spectacular results. But if she were to try that trick with Miki and others helping her out/lending their know-how in the manner that Arkady just used Karl and Caz to help them all rebuild that building? Luke might not stay down after all... ]

Another strong installment after Interlude 07. I agree with most everyone, it was fun to see the expressions and glee at a positive moment in our wet little corner of what's left of the planet. Like all things and everyone associated with this endeavor, ... professional job.

Ahhh, my week sucked as par for the course. The early round of testing returned positive with lesion in my left lung. I will have a biopsy on the 28th of the month and we'll decide the way to go from there. This will be my fourth bout with this crap since 2006 and frankly; I am rather tired.

Bit confused by this one. Arkady knows Mark is alive in the building but not that Luke is dead? And Karl (was it Karl?) knows that Luke is dead and is there when Arkady say's he's not.

So something is going on here...or I'm just missing something, which is probably more likely!

I wonder if Mark being inside the building when it was rebuilt is going to be relevant? Or icky.

Wow! I can hear the groaning of the building as its forced back into shape. I'm a bit confused by the Mark/Luke thing too.

24 hours ago, two hours into a 15-hour drive from Avignon to Amsterdam, I learned very suddenly that a sandwich from a gas station can be really bad for you. Today I'm catching up on a week's worth of work, even with the holidays.

But the sun is shining outside at last!

@RedThing I found myself in the exact same position last month, and felt much the same as yourself. For me it feels like the kick in the bollocks that I need to get my life in order, a new beginning is often a good thing. Good to hear your taking it positively.

I hadn't put much thought into how powerful they were truly becoming, be interesting to see where it goes from here. The more powerful they are, the more powerful the opposing force has to be to compensate.

'Kady makes me happy at the end this week, but Mark is still in there. And alive. Next week will be pretty good, methinks. Particularly fancy job on the rebuilding art this week, Paul and crew.

Personally the week has been pretty good. I got my C2E2 pass at the end of last week, and the wife's came early this week (I got mine from the super Avatar package of awesome, whereas she only got a Saturday pass), so now we're moving on to planning the trip as a whole. Considering it's a micro part of a macro vacation (we're driving to Chicago, then leaving there on the train back to Fargo to visit friends and family), it's the second-largest expense of the whole week and a half we'll be gone--after the train tickets--and we have to budget accordingly. I also have to figure out how I'm going to bother all the people I plan on bothering while I'm there, as I'll only be there for Friday and the morning on Saturday.

Weather-wise, the week has been pretty shit. It started out in the low 80s (F) and got down to the upper 30s last night while we were at the home opener for the local minor league baseball team. Oh, and it's been raining off and on all week. Since it's in off mode, probably gonna have to mow the lawn for the first time in... five years? Six? Not looking forward to that.

By being exceptionally lazy and only making myself move for things that involve drinking, this week has boiled down to being all about alcohol. Heh. Other wise it's been quiet and boring and the same old same old (but plus my brother who has gotten his first full week as a civilian in some five odd years and plus my mom who is on Spring Break).

Fantastic episode! Skipped a couple back so I could barrel into this one with the boom that should kick off the episode and yeah, I love freakangels. Hell yes. }:>

So I have been a very infrequent poster on this forum, but always always read Freak Angels with intense admiration for both the story and the art.... and I can't wait to introduce this masterpiece to a bunch of people in an EXCO class I hope to teach next year. I missed the time line for getting it into fall semester, but I'll deal with it. This is just too good not to pass along out there. I have a question in general for as many as care to answer--How often do you just check in here with each other when you know the strip hasn't been updated for a while and won't be? Any of you have contact elsewhere? My principle for asking is that on a different strip published at gocomics.com/ there are a huge number of people who track the strip and then hang out to socialize on the off times just because, and to me that's as valid as Facebook or My Space as a social media site because of it. Do you think that could/would happen here?

I'm kinda glad Mark's still alive. He's an evil bastard, but I really want to see what he can do. I hope the next strip shows him unleashing hell on them while they celebrate fixing the house :). On another note, rebuilding a house in seconds? awesome. Molecular control isn't quite as impressive as ending the world, but it shows an amazing amount of precision control to be able to do it. Can't wait to see what they come up with next to do. Rebuilding the entire world perhaps?

2. I love this strip more than I love easily 99.9973% of humans.
3. When I saw that they were going to rebuild I thought that they would just let things go to where they wanted to be, as if the bricks and wood molecules and mortar between the bricks et.al. still remembered their past (and current in nearby alternate universes) place and it was the path of least resistance to just let them go back home. Brains, even cojoined FA brains can't process quickly enough to manipulate zillions of molecules in real time. Not enough processing power, and they wouldn't have the intimate knowledge of where everything had been before.

Dave Matthew, I get that they are not always linked up together, but a few episodes back Carl was on the roof looking at the world from the sky and he saw Luke die. He was keeting with Connor and he says something like, "Luke's dead. Luke's dead Connor. And Mark's back!" Then here 'Kady says that she thinks Luke got away and Carl doesn't say anything? I don't really understand that.

I really don't think it's Karl keeping it from them, he's just a little busy with what's going on with Mark and the building at the moment. Arkady wasn't as specific as "Luke's alive" she just said that it was likely that everyone was after him. Is Karl supposed to go "Oh yeah, Jack killed him," while they are dealing with Mark and while Kait's standing right there? I just think he didn't speak up because it was less important to deal with that than with the threat of the still living Mark. Luke will still be dead ten minutes from now (unless freakangel mojo occurs)... who knows what will happen with Mark? It's not like Karl, out of the other FA, is going to be an advocate for Luke and rush Miki over there to save him.

Page 5, the slow motion backwards explosion, Mr Duffield you are bleedin brilliant mate! The little line of Freakfire between the mending floorboards, the bricks, everything, i am most impressed. Looks like the Angels made time run backwards in just that one little localised bit of the universe. Clever, that. Makes me wonder what exactly they did in the big push that broke the world.

And Mark is still alive and no-one seems particularly concerned about it. Hmmm, i wonder what kind of state he's in.

I like how Sirkka seems to be the only one aware at the moment that Jack shot Luke in the head. Perhaps because the others were busy, and/or perhaps because they share a link that runs deeper than the others have. Remember how Sirkka could feel cigar smoke rolling around in his mouth way back in volume one. There's a connection there that runs far deeper than The Package.

This story gets better and better, and would make a fine movie as long as Hollywood didn't make it/fuck it up.

@buddharhubarbbutter: the psychic parts would be easy, as ruined London in Green Screen, but production values and economic factors (based on target demographics) might or might not ruin a Freakangels movie. How about a rap musical? Some exciting car chases? More love interests?
Then it would be a great opportunity for at least 12 shiny new faces to become known !
As it is, there's about 30 minutes of screen time so far, (not including flashbacks, which could actually form the bulk of the adaptation.)
But they would probably just fuck it up, make lots of money anyway, and laugh all the way to the bank.

So that explains why so many panels have characters with lifelike expressions, even when they're discussing serious subjects. You know, actors in movies will do unscripted gags between takes just to keep the crew laughing, so the scripted bit will feel more real. I imagine it takes a lot of "off-camera" antics to keep the kids looking fresh, especially when they spend ten pages talking about the death of society and other fun topics!

@longtimelurker: Sorry, but that's not the way I read it- you wrote that you were taking Paul's drawing and changing the head to use for your own personal agenda- and then you were bragging about it. ( ! )
If you weren't actually gouging pixels from the original FA drawing and putting whatshisname's photo in its place in photoshop then you weren't actually doing anything except bragging about it.
(But) If you were instead changing the original art for your own purposes then you were just taking it without permission or regard for intellectual property. The latter is at least a flogging offense ! !
