I love the evolution of Arkady. Really well done Paul.
The Cassidy line made me crack up. Kait struck me as the character I'd least like in the real world, but suddenly I find myself warming to her a whole lot.
Life is good. New contract work is awesome and awesomer by the day.
Quite possibly one of the most expressive episodes in terms of art ( the biting lip, Caz and Arkady's faces) Well done Paul! Now I'm going to drink a bottle of fine vodka.
Alternate Freak Angels World Conspiracy Moment / Idea!
What if "The Package" won't let *any* of the FA actually really die?
EDITED TO ADD: It actually makes sense, if you think about the scenes we've seen where the FA protect themselves, just fine, and if you add in the scene where 'kady almost dies, plus the ability to heal that Sleezy-FA demonstrated after being shot in the leg. . .
I'm going to tell everyone I masturbate to interrogations and Quincy. With the lip-bite. Just so you know. Also @Paul: Is it just me, or is that first page with the ladies a little... cartoony?
Connor has been absent for a good chunk of the story now. I kept wondering where he is, and then he shows up to monitor rain-rain-go-away. Now Kait is saying he's a bad liar. And people finally notice he's sparse. Well, let's see down my list of favourite characters: Luke, Mark, Connor... yeah, Connor's next. KK better run for it!
I liked being able to look at the characters clearly. The expressions tell volumes without the distraction of action and high drama (weather, things exploding..) Thank you! And like everyone else, I laughed out loud at the "And then Quincy walks in..." And then I thought about Kait turning her thoughts around from "what am I going to do" to pushing her TMI into Kirk's head and I fell back in my seat and laughed until I could barely breathe. I don't know if the UK has any laws against cruel & unusual punishment, but I'm guessing post-cataclysm one is expected to take one's lumps.
I've been thinking it's not very wise to leave Luke's body unguarded, even if there are only so many 'Angels to go around. It's not likely to go anywhere...but it is unsecured. Anyway, other thing I started thinking about as I read through this thread, was it ever determined who spoke to Arkady when she blacked out/died in the water. Who's voice was it that brought her back from the brink? Connor's? Her own?
I was thinking, this morning, as i knew we were Friday so, I was thinking that it's going to be 4 volumes so far and there is not ONE page that i don't like to watch. And again I scan the new episode and again i am thrilled.
(And also that bearded man's body on the floor look like my better half and it's a bit disturbing)
glad your computer machine problems are getting better, Ariana. they are a real nightmare.
Right, while I'm doing that: how's everyone?
Ehh, the girl at supercuts really went to town on my head so I lost my power hair. I am going to feel fucking STUPID until it grows back. So yeah, did not realize i was so fucking shallow until now. Just feels wrong. you don't fucking take away Superman's cape and you don't NOT shoot Bruce Wayne's parents...
Here's a theory. The lizard brain is where the healing power is in a FA, and when some one is, killed, if the lizard brain isn't destroyed, then it keeps healing itself, and gradually heals the rest of the body. At some point, the heart starts beating, they start breathing, brain damage is healed, they regain consciousness. This intense FA effort while the rest of the body is quiescent reshapes the brain as it heals to be more compatible with the gift/ or just exercises the gift in powerful ways, and thus the new skills after death experiences. What do you think?
By the by, did you notice that she said ok right after the request to flush out the last five minutes;)
Interesting theory. I had been playing with the theory that the package was expressed through the FA, but that it was powered by one or more outside entities, maybe twelve, who were interested in keeping them alive.
Agree with most of the folks above about this ep, but wanted to add two points -
This ep really feels like everyone is starting to catch their breath. The incredible series of cliff-hangers has stopped, nobody's got a gun pointed at anyone else, and people are starting to think about something more than the next 60 seconds. It's kind of refreshing.
And we get a confirmation about stabbing Mark in the brain - it was not a physical ice-pick, but a FA push.
@NextThursday Actually I can see Connor sort of saving Luke. couldn't even begin to imagine how, remote in to keep the vitals going, reconnect the lizard brain as it were. Or perhaps abscond with the body and work out the mysteries of Freakdeath.
I like the nuance. She likes the part where they confess. Kait is hard core and single minded. I dont want Luke to come back. That idea is toooo scary.
