    For a few weeks, we're going to try something a little different in the REMAKE/REMODEL space.

    Usual REMAKE/REMODEL rules apply:

    No pen-portraits. This is ART ONLY. Posting just a bunch of text, or a scribble and a vast number of words, will get the thread closed and your account banned.

    NO MORE PHOTO-MANIPULATION "art". I'll just delete them. People have been drenching recent threads with several pieces at a time that they've knocked out in photoshop in 2 minutes with no thought at all. I consider this to be taking the piss now.

    No more than ONE submission by any one person in any one REMAKE/REMODEL.

    So here's the deal:


    You are a very busy artist/designer. You work a lot, you take a lot of drugs, and you have some mental problems that you really dont like discussing with people and you're still a bit ashamed about that time you stabbed that tramp who yelled "Your brain looks like a television that's been fucked by a rhino" outside the coffee shop.

    You do covers for books, comics, and CDs, and you get confused easily.

    You've been told you have to produce, in one week, a cover for something called THE MISSING MAN by Steve Ditko.

    You can't remember what the cover's for. So you decide it's a CD.

    (You do a lot of work for ambient music labels. You have no clue what THE MISSING MAN is. Steve Ditko sounds like someone who does ambient stuff.)

    So your image is going to be CD-sleeve sized, or else it'll be rejected. And it's going to have the title THE MISSING MAN and the credit STEVE DITKO.

    And how you execute it, what style it's in, everything, is up to you, except of course that it should somehow reflect the title (or perhaps the music you imagine it is), or else it'll be rejected.

    You have one week. Go.

    That aside, this sounds like it should produce some interesting results.

    OK, this week is Finals Week, my schedule is going to be for shit, so it's now or never.

    Now, unfortunately, as a designer, I took so many drugs that my brain went back to 1981, so I designed the Ditko album/CD cover accordingly.


    I'm sure many others will come up with much more sublime solutions for this challenge. I await your better ideas...

    What size is "CD-sleeve sized"?

    It's roughly 5" x 5", but I would say that parameter probably indicates a square format design, or one that is 2 panels, as in a full front and back cover area.
    Am I correct? Can we get a ruling on this?
