    I don't know that the book will be ending soon, but it will be changing soon. I'm thinking we'll see Alice, Conner and Jack (with perhaps Arkady and another 'angel) leaving Whitechapel and exploring the outside world in a kind of exile. So, we'll have a two-track story, the Whitechapel 'angels and the Exiled 'angels. Sadly, this will mean that Kirk is still correct and that none of his assistants on the Tower last more than a week...

    The idea occurred to me that perhaps Conner is packing things for Jack? He would have to assume he'll be leaving soon, I'd guess.

    ( I do agree though, it looks more like he's leaving off on his own. To quote a wise man: "That boy ain't right." )

    Maybe he's just had enough of the bullshit? Connor was always the sensitive one, and now things are about to get much worse. Not to diminish his role, but he seems much like a child caught in the middle of a divorce right now, just wanting everyone to stop fighting.

    Maybe he thinks Mark will be re-introduced to the group, and he's not willing to be part of that?

    Maybe he's just going camping for a long, long time.

    My favourite page was with Connor, leaning in the doorway in disgust and brooding out. I wonder if he's going to flip out on 'Kady when she pops by.

    The boys and girls certainly do have a communication problem. It probably comes from being able to lift knowledge from other peoples' brains instead of having to negotiate for it.

    There's another super power that might be impacting their ability to communicate. They're all 21.

    I understand may not be the ending. But, I don't think....for me...I just didn't see Connor as the type up and leave. Maybe whine and bitch about it, but not just leave.

    I can see KK doing so. But Connor...it just feels odd. I'm not getting something. It feels like there is a piece of the puzzle is missing. That just tangles more questions on the questions we already have.

    What a web. And it makes me mad, lol.

    Did you seriously just ask the author that question? Look, go back and re-read the last few episodes. Jack explained his actions to Kait, and Caz explained it again. Obviously a few of the other FA's don't agree with what he did, and the others might not even have had enough time to process how they feel about it, but there's no question as to why he did it.

    If you're looking for a reason behind the reason... well, that's what makes the story open to interpretation. You might as well ask why Hamlet killed Polonius! Look at the evidence, look at what we know about Jack and how he feels, and form your own conclusion.

    Yeah I'm out of it... I thought Mark had triggered Alice once he returned and that he had regained control over her. I thought she was just shooting at the nearest angel. Which happened to be Luke. I thought we were in invasion mode.

    It's an interesting theory, and certainly worth considering, but again, the way this works is you need to come up with the theory first and then look for evidence that supports it. The author will put twists and turns along the way, but any revelation will happen WITHIN the story itself. This forum is a reader-response area only. FREAKANGELS will stand on its own as a work, and any revelations and plot twists will always be spelled out within the work.

    Now let's look at your theory. Let's say Mark has a deep command line in Alice. Karl suggested it was possible way back around episode 10, after all. This means he may be in partial control of her, or he may have left a dormant command line in place to activate later. So are her actions really her own? We've seen her ring the siren during various attacks and go out with her shotgun to protect Whitechapel, culminating in her shooting of Luke. Doesn't really sound like Mark's in command, does it? Not while he's been busy smuggling weapons in, leaving dead bodies laying around, and doing God knows what else. It's an unproven theory at best, without any supporting evidence, or even any convincing suppositional evidence. That leaves the most valid interpretation: she's in control of her own mind.

    Remember also, she resisted Sirkka's attempt to control her back in episode 6, until KK made it two against one. She's a tough cookie. Mark controlling her long-distance, when he had a hard time standing up to Kaitlyn alone? Doesn't seem likely. On the other hand, her tracking Luke down and getting the drop on him fits with her own personality and with her stated desire to "not let him get away with it." And why would she stop with just shooting Luke if Mark were in command? Wouldn't she have shot Jack next? It doesn't add up.

    Not that it's a bad theory, there just isn't the evidence to support it.

    Now as to whether he'll take control of her in the future... scaaaaary thought.
