    Don't know if Whitechapel is quite the right crowd for this.

    Looks like Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails in case anyone does not know) is back to making music already.

    Looks like a continuation of Ghosts/Slip era stuff but with a new (Coil inspired) band name and his wife collaborating. Only a teaser clips up so far but it sounds pretty cool (even if it sounds just like NIN).

    Anyone else seen this? Opinions?

    Oh yes, NIN gets kicked around muchly here. In a good way.

    The project seems like it might be interesting. Waiting to make a full opinion til it comes out. I've read it will probably only be a 6-song EP or something, so it's probably not going to be earth-shattering. I'll just stick with "interesting."

    Yeah I heard the same thing about the EP. I hope the Trent gives up some vocal space to Mariqueen. NIN music with female vocals sounds like a winning combo.

    That’s what I’m really looking forward to. Trent’s vocal talents are pretty limited in comparison to his instrumental range and having someone else singing would be a great way for him to keep moving away from the 1990s alt-rock angst fest. I would be much impressed if Trent can keep moving forward while Soundgarden are digging out the old standards to rehash at Lollapalooza.

    Interesting. So far the music doesn't sound like much of a departure, but then imo, NIN are still one of the most progressive and interesting bands out there musically. I'm also looking forward to seeing what a vocal update can do to help that stay true.

    I'm cautiously optimistic. I should be more confident in the potential for this to be awesome, since Trent has an entire career of nearly completely great music. But somehow, I'm wary of spousal collaborations. Also, I've never been a huge fan of industrial with female vocals. I always seem to end up skipping the KMFDM tracks that are too Lucia-heavy.

    I'm a total NIN addict, so am very keen to see how this pans out.

    Whilst I liked Ghosts, I felt a lot of the tracks were like unfinished sketches, or motifs... hopefully HTDA will have more well-rounded tracks.

    Agreed. A lot of the Ghosts tracks feel like your getting a snippit of a longer track or just a piece of something. Hoping HTDA will be more fleshed out.

    I'm loving the art direction on this, I know it's pretty much a continuation of the Ghosts stuff (and has strong resonance with The Fragile too) but it's just very cool. I'm very keen to see who else they get in the line up. I have to admit, I felt pretty low after the last tour... I knew Trent would do something else, but even so, I've been listening to NIN since Broken.

    Yeah, that's pretty accurate. It definitely sounds like The Fragile. The first five minutes or so sound like they should have had Trent singing, though, as it sounds like Mariqueen's voice isn't built for that range or inflection style.

    I'm interested to hear more, but I don't know if I'd pick up the EP if it sounds like this all the way through. Just not my cuppa.
