    It's quite ambient really. It's kinda b-side material, but I think it's a grower.

I, like rickiepooh, felt it could have had Trent singing. To the point that it sounds like he actually wrote the vocal melodies and possibly the lyrics. I do like it though. Listened to it about half an hour ago, took a drive, and found myself singing in my head the whole time, "Please a-ny-one...I don't think I can..."

    I like this.

I fear I'm going to have to give Trent more money.

After having heard "A Drowning", I'm on board. I'd listen to more of that. Although if it happened to get a little more aggressive, I wouldn't say no.

I liked "a Drowning" though I was actually left thinking they could have done more with her voice. The vocals were definitely written as if Trent would sing them, but she had some soft flourishes that could have been more dynamic/expressive if allowed to grow. Trent makes the most of his voice and his voice makes me... um.. never mind, but in absolute skill he's never been that strong of a singer. Range is limited and timbre isn't all that much. Mrs Reznor (I swear I'll learn to spell her name, eventually) can do things with her voice he can't do and wish they had played that up. Maybe they will. I can't wait to find out. }:>

Play those three clips at once.

I tossed together an MP3 of clips 1 through 4 mixed together:
    clips 1-4 overlaid
Sounds interesting, though I'm not sure they're intended to be combined.
I also looked at the spectrographic view of each file, as well as the "A Drowning" track, but didn't see anything hidden there.

@RadioGuy - I'm pretty sure Brian was joking. I could be wrong though.

Not joking... I don't know if they're supposed to be played together or not, it just seemed like a logical thing to try.

@brianwood - Ah. I misunderstood it to mean you had already tried it, which I then interpreted as a joke, after trying it myself.

That would have been amazing if it worked!

As a relatively new NIN fan, I'm quite happy Mr. Reznor didn't sing on this one. It gives the project (if we assume he's in a guitarist/programming and maybe backups capacity here) a bit more room to create it's own unique identity. Also, the woman's voice is breathy while still managing to keep the ominous theme going.

If it's all like this, count me in.

Love that song, will buy the CD.

You people do realize that NiN CDs are the only CDs I've purchased in...Jaysis, eons.

Not convinced by that song :/ Lyrics and music sound like NIN copypasta, and her voice doesn't add anything new yet.

It's kinda weird seeing people listen to clips and random songs and deciding from that whether to buy the album.

I'm just gonna wait until it's released, download it, listen to it fully and properly a bit and then decide whether I like it.

Say, I have a question. Who's that third person? He looks vaguely familiar, like it might be Justin Meldal-Johnsen from the later tours, but I can't really tell.

Yeah, you're probably right. I haven't seen a recent picture of him with such short hair, which is what threw me. I knew Moulder was on the project, but I assumed it was just in a producing/engineering capacity.

Here's the link to the song at Amazon, though if you really wanna save a buck, you could grab the song from the Pitchfork article using FLVStreamer to grab the RTMP stream from the URL in the page source and FLV Extract to pull out the 320 kbps MP3.

Not that I would ever do something like that, mind you.
