The best way to start these things is to get everyone saying hello. So please introduce yourselves in this thread, adding a photo if you've got one (trust me -- the web works much better when people see that there are real people on the other end of a post).
Obviously, if you've said hello in previous Introduction threads, there's no need to do it again.
We don't insist on real names here. I find it helps, but, frankly, if you want to be a completely fictional invention of yourself, go right ahead. Hell, I've even known people who have started out fictional and then become their own invention.
Hello. I'm Warren.
May 2nd 2010
Hi Whitechapel, I'm Eric.
I like to read comics and science fiction. Trying to finish my undergrad degree in Philosophy/Psychology down here in the south. Almost 30, spent a few years in the Army (U.S), traveled around Europe (and elsewheres) a bit on the governments dime.
I find it amusing that last weekend I started reading FreakAngels and this weekend Middle Tennessee is flooded. For lots of pictures check out this FB group: "
I survived the Great Nashville Monsoon of May 1st.

I'm Andrew. I also answer to Andy, Drew, Dad or Bruce. I live in Lincolnshire in the UK and only tend to get fictional when drunk.
I spent most of my 40 years on this planet reading comics so it makes little sense to give up now. Been following Warren's work since Lazarus Churchyard popped up in Blast!
I've had the internet set to read only for too long so I've decided to post & upload more this year. I'd love to get my drawing arm working again but it seems a bit stubborn!

Hi Whitechapel. I'm Shaun.
I've been up since six this morning, so I looked like a yeti gargling McSnot about forty minutes ago:
However, since then I've been battering myself about the cerebellum with very strong tea, resulting in a look of approachable perplexity which will hopefully remain with me for the rest of the day. Unless tea becomes unavailable.
I've been reading comics since I was knee-high to a knee - I learned to read through the British greats, the Beano and the Dandy, which is why I know such wonderful phrases as 'yarooks' and 'ooyah'.
I moved on to Batman and Superman et al when I got older, but I made the tragic mistake of listening to what other people said, and so I gave up on comics for several years, thinking they were for kids. Then, around eighteeen, bored out of my skull, I ransacked the local library (for books, mind) and found a whole swathe of great stuff, including Warren's own
, and Moore's
Since then, I've gone back to my childhood dreams of writing and drawing my own comic - I posted the first part of my first serious effort, called
The Boy with Nails for Eyes
, online about a month ago. By the time it's finished, I reckon it'll be a story several hundred pages long. Oh, and I'll be eating my own mad face. I'm poor as a church mouse who thought that sub-prime mortgages were the new stinky cheese, but I'm happy. I honestly think comics are a unique medium, possessing the visceral immediacy of cinema or animation, but also the depth and reader-involvement of text.
Anyway, enough from me, hope everyone has a good Tuesday.
PS. Been trying like stink to get my images to work, but my preview only shows the alt tags. Ho hum. I'll post, and hope that this is a symptom of the preview in my browser. Either that, or it's an embarassing fumble on my part...

Hey. I'm Jon. Been lurking for a bit. Grew up on hard SF and comics. Currently, working as a writer in Los Angeles. Did some work for a well-known capes animation property last year. And just got the worst notes session of his whole life.

Although I introduced myself a long while ago, I now have a website and have taken the leap into actually writing instead of just talking about how and what I'm going to write, so...
I'm Steve Kinsella and my new online home is at http://www.stevenkinsella.com. Some pieces of prose and poetry, as well as a small collection of earlier work that is available from Lulu.com. The site is being updated on a daily basis after a small haitus.
I'm currently working on a collection of short stories for release around the end of the year.

Ahoy there Whitechapel!
I'm smileyfish, science geek extraordinare currently located in Hobart, Tasmania, all the way at the bottom of Australia.
I've ben reading Freakangels for a long , long time and have managed to get many people hooked (wicked grin) but have only just found my way over to these here forums*. Being a fan of both steampunk and cyberpunk, this would appear to be a very good place to be. =o)
...and the little city I currently call home.
*the consumption of vodka may have assisted this somewhat.

I don't know who I am, Puerto Rican, No plans for the future, 29 on edge, NYC, Hoboken NJ, Union Square Park NY, Ellis fan since Doom 2099. Stopped reading comics from '98 to 2001. Started reading comics again with Transmet. Felt my brain expand after stagnating for 2 years. Super-Man movie comes out I say "I am not interested in a super hero in a world with George Washington Bridge as Precedent. One month later Black Summer Issue Zero get's announced. Thanks Warren.
Wildstorm stuff in between.

Hello! I thought I'd come out of hiding. I read every Friday during my prep period!
My degrees are in Medieval Literature and Culture and French Horn Performance, which has left me teaching American Literature in a very tiny country high school. I'm kind of a writer, kind of a musician, and kind of an artist...some days one more than the others, sometime none at all.
I am trying in vain to post a picture, but after three attempts, I'm giving up and trying another day :(

My name is Fabian and I just recently started reading FreakAngels, after having it recommended it to me by a friend with a statement along the lines of, "You should read this, Warren Ellis writes it and he takes the piss out of his own customers who buy the books." This wasn't
what sold me on it, but I happened to find some free time to read an episode... and the next thing I knew I was a third of the way through the archive. I just finished reading all the back-episodes the other day, and am now anxiously waiting for next Friday along with everyone else.
As a citizen of Greater Manchester, I find Alice's written accent hilarious, even if I don't share it - possibly due to having been born in Germany. I'm 21 and doing a BSc. in Game Programming at the moment, and have relatively recently become fascinated with various comics. This can probably be blamed on Neil Gaiman's
series, and I'm only just branching out into others. I appreciate recommendations!
This was the only half-decent recent picture I could find (I'm far left), though I do have one of me and some friends at a Gangsters & Molls birthday party that I may throw out as fodder into the Draw Each Other thread.

Hi, Whitechapel folks. I'm Trishelle. I've been following Warren Ellis on twitter for a while, and found Freakangels and this place through that. Been thinking about actually getting an account for a while, since it seems like a pleasant sort of place, but felt dumb about it because I haven't read most of Warren's stuff. Mainly I've just read Freakangels. I need more. Next time I get to a comic book store, I'm finding something he's written, because it's pathetic that I don't own a graphic novel by him.
I'm a full time student at a little college in Utah, where I'm majoring in art. I'd like to draw comics for a living someday, although I've heard that's a terrible idea. To be fair though,
I'd do with a degree in art is probably a bad idea for a career.
I just realized I have pretty much no pictures of me taken recently I like in which I'm not making a face. So I just took this with my cell phone camera. I got a few where I'm looking at the camera and smiling and whatnot, but I like this one best, naturally.

Hola, Whitechapel. My real name is Nathan, 24, american, live with my grandparents in a hellhole called Florida. College student at the University of Central Florida, Legal studies major, criminal justice minor, possible going to law school if I feel like bashing my self in the head for twenty fours a day. Closet shut in. Single. Wish I knew how I to import images with Whitechapel so that you all can bask in my glorious glow. Been a devout follower of Mr. Ellis since his stuff on Ultimate Fantastic Four.

Evening Whitechapel. I'm Edward, from England. Twenty-one. I love to travel, my favourite country so far being Italy. Straight. A I-wanna-make-a-comicer. I'm slowly loosing my ability to care about alcohol. Raves, rocks and moshes and otherwise spasms on dance floors. Fuck fashion. I really can't play the guitar. I box.
. I'm in the construction industry, have been since I was sixteen. I missed out on
by not going to university didn't I? Fook.
On a good day I'm a sighing transhumanist, on a bad day I'm a laughing nilist, most days I just shrug and Get On With It.
Oh, and about my username, I was thinking of using a Greek god as my username...and then I just thought how penile that was of me. So yes, Thanatosser.

Evening Whitechapel. I'm Andrew, from gator-infested Florida and I am 38. I currently live in Daytona Beach, and I used to live in Sarasota. In fact, my girlfriend still lives in Sarasota. We take turns driving three hours to visit each other. I am a pop culture writer and film critic, and many friends know me around the web as NeuroMan42. Some folks are readers of my quirky blog,
The Konietzky Strain
. I have known of Mr. Ellis for a while, and after reading Crooked Little Vein, I became a follower. Some other tidbits about me... I have a weird and obscure sense of humor. I am a techno-geek who likes such random things as Monty Python, Doctor Who, Penn & Teller, Indie films, Kids in the Hall, Bad B movies, Muppets, Godzilla, and much much more. Be sure to get back in your bunker, up your meds, and secure your tinfoil hat.
Additional... I want to post a pic, but cannot figure out how to. Dur.

If you do not mind, I'd like to go by my nickname, despite the warning above; it is probably too late for me anyway as I've stopped responding to my real name a long time ago and most people call me by my various nicks.
Sadly, there is no picture available at the moment, so you'll just have to take my word for what it is: I'm a female member of the
spectacled IT nerd
subspecies of humanity, somewhere in thirties, living nearby the Arctic Circle in Finland.
I have had a long and fruitful love affair with comic books, and can rattle off a long list of comic creators whose works I appreciate, and of course Warren Ellis is on my list of favorite things to read.
I like to cook, I bake completely deranged cakes to my friends whenever we party getting-older-instances (such as the cake I called "Armageddon by Chocolate", where a humongous bunny-marzipan-Shoggoth was menacing chocoate chickens while a sacrificed chocolate bunny was bleeding raspberry gore to the grapefruit jelly snot sprayed by the Shoggoth), I keep two Linux servers for fun, I am a masochist and try to integrate them with Windows desktops as well, and do all-around nerdy things in life, from Pratchett to playing RPGs and painting miniatures.
You can find me from
and Twitter as @coyotedancer. I hope I'll have fun in here, and Mr. Ellis please put the Arse Eels away, I'm scared of them. Plz? Plz.

Hello Whitechapel. My name is Christopher Hunt, I hail from Boise, Idaho currently. I've been a fan of comics since I read Paul Pope's THB back in 1994 when he was self publishing in my hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Subsequently my tastes have had an indie flare, though I am an avid consumer of Hugo Pratt, Herge, Jean Giraud, Guido Crepax, etc. I've been dedicating my free time to writing and drawing comics over the past 4 years and finally feel like I'm making some headway. I've been lurking in the background on Whitechapel for some time now, but I think its time that I take the plunge and actually participate. If you're feeling particularly masochistic, you can check out some of my work at my site
I mainly draw stories about killing animals, free market capitalism, and archetypal superheroes as good things, so its a bit of an uphill battle. The plus side is I'm not THAT embarrassed by my work now *gives thumbs up* so I'm definitely makin' progress.
