As you probably expected, it's a skip week. But, you know, it's also a very good opportunity to reread Volume 4 from the beginning (or order a hard copy for easier page flipping).

Mmm, Paul is there, isn't he? Will he have any with him? I have vols 1, 2 and 3 all signed by him (and only one by Mr Ellis, bah) and I also threw him by getting him to sign his winning 'Rising Stars of Manga' book last Expo (from way back when he was a teeny little up-and-comer :D)...anyway I'm waffling - would very much like Paul to be there with volume 4 to sign for me!

This week, despite the weather, has been good - I was 33 on Wednesday and I'm shipping off the 5 year old and having a party tomorrow. Hubby bought me a Wii (yeah, I'm so behind, I know) and I spent vouchers from all his family on about a trillion comics, tpbs and officially-graphic-novels that I wouldn't have been able to afford, so I remember why birthdays can still be awesome even when you don't have jelly and ice cream. (Though I did of course have cake). I *think* champagne beats jelly and ice-cream, though yesterday morning I was not so convinced. For party tomorrow I am already anticipating the rum with excitement...

Spring has been fairly springy in my part of the world, but I can tell you with some authority that it isn't camping weather yet. A group of us found this out last weekend. I still feel a bit like Shackleton. In other news, science has confirmed that I am oficially STI free, which is a releif.

Spring seems to have skipped straight through to Autumn here in the UK, though the promise it'll get warmer over the next few days. That said we got the BBQ out for my birthday last weekend. Which means I am now in a new age bracket in survey. hmmph.

Weather is finally shifting towards Autumn/Fall in my part of the Southern Hemisphere. Nights well into the single figures and rain. Although apparently said rain isn't going to hang around for more than a few days. Actually that's what the 'Angels can do with Mark, send him down here to call up some decent storms for us. The risk of psychic domination is more than worth it if it fills up the dams.

I was devastated when I saw the skip week notice, as this is my first Friday after having read the entire FreakAngels archive - my first time checking at noon for a new episode! That said, I'm not surprised by it at all, and this is probably the best time for it.

I have my standing order for each volume at my local comic store of choice. I got the signed version of Vol. 1, but now I get just the regular 'HB' copy. I prefer the covers on those by far.
Wrapping up the last of the doctor visits this morning and will make treatment decision soon.
Weather this week in the Old Pueblo was what living in Tucson is all about; almost perfect. Today's expected high should be around 87 degrees.

It just makes sense to take as many breaks as possible when you do this kind of work.

Artists and Writers enclosed and contained in boxed units of time and schedules are responsible for such creative things as the Laugh-tracks in situation comedies that insult your intelligence by telling you when to laugh.

The creative people who do the best work can't do that in regular predictable intervals because that's not how creativity works. I might not like cliff hangers, but I don't mind at all waiting until the presentation is polished and ready.

Spring is definitely here in the GTA. Exploding with green and rain. It look like Super Mario Land outside my apartment building.
Been a rotten week though- Still can't find a job, and it's getting depressing. Gotta start selling my comics and stuff. Sucks.
Thru dieting and exercise and a lack of fun money, I have lost 15 pounds since this time last month.
I do feel much better, but my blood pressure is still thru the roof. 45 pounds to go.
I lost one of my best buddies on Tuesday -Nova, my 16 year old cat, quite suddenly even though at his age we knew every day we had with him was a gift. I take comfort in knowing that he is with is brother Boss on the other side now.
Broke a filling on one of my molars yesterday, and now my mouth is a symphony of pain. No job = no dentist, however.
Ah well, back to drawing for me. Hope you all have a great week.

Just this second got informed that I'd been successful at interview, and am now a member of the working elite again. I may not particularly want to have innate IT leanings, but I do and it keeps me in cakes. It's also a proper, 9/5 job, which may sound shitty, but after well over a year of working all the hours god sends, I'll be grateful, and hopefully supported by a little steadiness, and get some real me time.

I kind of expect this is a FAQ somewhere, but is there some sort of "and then the series ends" arc, or could this potentially go on penned by warren's zombie-corpse two hundred years from now?

Along those lines, are there going to be options to collect the comics in something larger than TPs? Like 4 volumes or 8 volumes or 20 volumes at a time? :)

Sorry, but I, unlike many people, am disgustingly UNinspired to buy the physical copies for the reason that it feels that, being online and free, the narrative is pointlessly spun out, especially in the action/drama sequences. Free, online, fine. It takes two seconds to read a week, clickety click. You expect paper and money for same two minutes of non-intelligent action?

Oh wait, I've got a suggestion, let's change the whole thing for mrpaulgray!! He's spent an entire 5 or 10 minutes registering and posting, as well as many more minutes reading the comic in order to tell us what we're doing wrong so insightfully, so hey, I'll stop taking breaks and start to work during the night as well as the day, Warren can speed up the story and release 3 episodes a week, and then we can all have a happy internet party where mrpaulgray is crowned amazing webcomics king and showered with gifts of gratitude for being so erudite and progressive in his criticism. While I agree with johnjones' assessment of mrpaulgray, I do remember the feeling of frustation when I first started reading Freakangels a volume ago, and the next episode was a skip week, and then there were a couple of flashback episodes and then another skip week...
Somehow the week-long gap between episodes made it far worse than if it had been updating each day. It occurred to me then that one could upload an episode for a given week, but have one's database auto-release one page per day, with maybe a break on day 7 or, if that seems overly dependent on Christian notions of the Sabbath, maybe a one-page notice with messages or merchandising ads or something.
Then breaks wouldn't be so long, and when skip weeks had to happen people wouldn't already have been waiting a week. But it may well be that the bother it would take to code something like that wouldn't be worth it. And since then I've got used to the weekly schedule anyway.

Skip week? I can live with that, fits in nicely with my current schedule of rest and recuperation, too much excitement would quite possibly lead to head explodey in the state i'm in right now. More comic next week would be nice though, i should be able to have someone standing by with a mop and bucket by then...

Having said that, i've managed to lever myself up off my sickbed and get out for a couple of decent, gentle strolls around the spring countryside. I was greatly pleased to see that i'd not missed the bluebells and in fact appeared to have caught them at their finest. I now have lots of inexpertly snapped pictures to sort out. Very pleased indeed.

I'm also very pleased that Freakangels and Whitchapel are here on the internets for all to enjoy (or not as the case may be), completely free of charge. My great thanks to everyone involved in putting them there.

Oooh, oooh! Since it was a skip week, MrPaulGrey has provided entertainment in the form of his idiotic self!

We finally had a weekend with decent weather here. As opposed to the last month or so, which consisted of beautiful weather during the week and crappy weather on the weekends. And the forecast looks like rain for part of the upcoming week. But not for the weekend! Though accuracy that far out is a joke.

Now, will the next volume pick up where the last one left off, or will there be a time skip or what? And if it doesn't skip time, will it change focus? My bet would be that it won't open up with Miki and Luke the moment after the last panel of volume four. Maybe with Kait and Karl and unconscious Mark. Or Connor and Jack both leaving town their own ways.

I really wonder if MrCuntyCuntCunt knows how long Paul must spend on each page, let alone update. Without considering things like eating, paperwork (the joys of being freelance/contracted) I can imagine every waking hour goes into making those pages, I know that's how I am with my webcomic. I envy Paul's ability to churn out that many pages most of the time. But sometimes things happen. diddums. It's only a week. Get a life!

In the past two years, there have been 96 full episodes, and 23 notices, skips, or holidays. That means there's about a 3 to 1 ratio of comics to skips, which are usually a bit of explaining or ads to buy the physical product so this experiment can make some money and keep running. (Sometimes, like the Christmas weeks, we get extra goodies, so I'd consider those not really skip weeks.) However, there are 576 pages of Freakangels. If we did this on a typical one-page-every-other-day-if-you're-lucky schedule, that's nearly five years' worth of content.

So I can handle a skip week every now and then. And that's why whenever somebody bitches about it, I feel they get what they rightly deserve.

Thanks Warren, Paul (and the rest of the art team, whose names I can never seem to retain), Ariana, Avatar, and all the rest of you people that read the thing and buy the books so I can keep reading and buying it, too.

Further maths: Of the 119 weeks total the comic has been going, 19% of the updates have been non-story posts. A typical half-hour of television is 28% adverts. Print magazines--those that are still alive--are even more ad-laden. So I can handle a bit of non-content 19% of the time (some of which is still technically content.) So in short, kindly stfu, pal.

Yet you create an account solely to say how you are grumpy about all the skip weeks in a comic that is in your opinion boring and not worth buying? If you really feel that way about it, how is it you've been bothered to read it at all, let alone been moved to even go through the motions you did just to snivel about it?

My advice is to go and eat your own shit, since the flavor of it is probably more palatable than the bowls full of ours you've just been served. Which would make perfect sense, except that you were complaining about not being able to eat this shit often enough, right? Wow.
