TOO MANY NOTICES - MORE actual STORY PLEASE. After all, the whole bloody boom-bang-end-of-whatever-retro scenario was pictorially repititive, and painfully prolonged, and predictable.

Sorry, but I, unlike many people, am disgustingly UNinspired to buy the physical copies for the reason that it feels that, being online and free, the narrative is pointlessly spun out, especially in the action/drama sequences. Free, online, fine. It takes two seconds to read a week, clickety click. You expect paper and money for same two minutes of non-intelligent action?

    @ mrpaulgray

Then don't buy it. And don't read it. And above all, go to someone else's site and be a whining, ungrateful cunt about the gift that they give you every week or so.

Damn. I used "cunt" as an insult. You've put something in the internet to turn us all British, haven't you, Warren?

I am at MCCC this weekend. I'll be sure to stop by and say hi to the crew.

Hmm, and I bet there'll be a timeskip for the start of the next volume too.

I love the people who sign up a new account just to bitch.

Well, no-one's forcing you to buy or read it. Bye.

Oh wait, I've got a suggestion, let's change the whole thing for mrpaulgray!! He's spent an entire 5 or 10 minutes registering and posting, as well as many more minutes reading the comic in order to tell us what we're doing wrong so insightfully, so hey, I'll stop taking breaks and start to work during the night as well as the day, Warren can speed up the story and release 3 episodes a week, and then we can all have a happy internet party where mrpaulgray is crowned amazing webcomics king and showered with gifts of gratitude for being so erudite and progressive in his criticism. Maybe we could even name the forum after him. Joy.

Oh! Can we have a pinata, Master Duffield? In the shape of mrpaulgray? I'll be double happy if it makes authentic sounds of pain!

(I'm buying the signed edition, so Warren can get the BIG case of Red Bull and Paul can... sorry, Paul, what stimulants are your choice again?)

In all seriousness, thanks, guys. I am getting the signed edition as always. I shall be getting some apparel as soon as it's my next "food or X" item. You're right after the Desktop edition of Write or Die.

Ooh this is great! Lemme pull up a chair-- now go ahead!

I absolutely love it when some intellectually challenged prat steps up to the bar to air his ignorance. Especially when he (or sometimes she) is COMPLAINING. About something that he got FOR FREE. And he's doing this at the nexus point of the free thing's FAN BASE. Nossir, it just dudden get any dumbern that.

But that's okay! : ::GRIN:: : We FreakAngel Freaks LOOOOVE to play Whack-A-Moron!

Soooo, is there anyone else in the house that would like to represent Congenital Genitals Anonymous? Great. OK everybody... in a circle... link your hands...

I sorta always knew this skip week was coming, I guess, I told myself I could take it... but it turns out I was WRONG.
I need more Push, neeeeeed moar MEGAFWOOSH, I need more beautiful bitter smartasses at psychic war with themselves. Oh and they're gonna need to save the world, for free.
Just another few days? ok, sweet!

Well, since we're on a break and all, I've been seeing a few other comics - just started reading Planetary from the beginning. Love it.

    Cockchapel almost sounds cool.

    So, mrpaulgray lives in Cuntchapel.

Okay, moving on from mrpaulgraybitch, who isn't worth the energy needed to type the words to insult him, I am seriously psyched for the next volume. I usually order my Volumes through Avatar, but I'm getting Volume Four through my local comic shop. Hopefully people will see it, get curious and get hooked on the Freakangel love train.

While I agree with johnjones' assessment of mrpaulgray, I do remember the feeling of frustation when I first started reading Freakangels a volume ago, and the next episode was a skip week, and then there were a couple of flashback episodes and then another skip week...
Somehow the week-long gap between episodes made it far worse than if it had been updating each day. It occurred to me then that one could upload an episode for a given week, but have one's database auto-release one page per day, with maybe a break on day 7 or, if that seems overly dependent on Christian notions of the Sabbath, maybe a one-page notice with messages or merchandising ads or something.
Then breaks wouldn't be so long, and when skip weeks had to happen people wouldn't already have been waiting a week. But it may well be that the bother it would take to code something like that wouldn't be worth it. And since then I've got used to the weekly schedule anyway.

    I want a puppy.
    Clickity-click.
    Get me a puppy.
I demand a puppy of high quality and medium size, or I will not read your posts. A pointer would do, for such a dog could obviously point me away from writing silly posts like this, and to doing fun things. Like snuggling it and giving it toys, and teaching it to do stuff.
Lest bitching and more puppies, for your narrative is hopelessly dull and your words are nearly worthless, and only a puppy could possibly save the day.
Let me repeat this to make it quite clear: I demand a puppy.

    p.s.
If a puppy proves too hard, I would like a Godot.
Actually on second thought, if you really cared about this place and that comic you'd just give birth to 1,0000 lizardbabies.

Skip week? I can live with that, fits in nicely with my current schedule of rest and recuperation, too much excitement would quite possibly lead to head explodey in the state i'm in right now. More comic next week would be nice though, i should be able to have someone standing by with a mop and bucket by then...

Having said that, i've managed to lever myself up off my sickbed and get out for a couple of decent, gentle strolls around the spring countryside. I was greatly pleased to see that i'd not missed the bluebells and in fact appeared to have caught them at their finest. I now have lots of inexpertly snapped pictures to sort out. Very pleased indeed.

I'm also very pleased that Freakangels and Whitchapel are here on the internets for all to enjoy (or not as the case may be), completely free of charge. My great thanks to everyone involved in putting them there.

So, following my own suggestion and dropping the previous matter, I'm with roadscum in being cool with a skipweek. Skipweeks allow me to process stuff. And in preparation for next Friday, I plan to reread my three softcovers and then go back through Volume Four again.

Oooh, oooh! Since it was a skip week, MrPaulGrey has provided entertainment in the form of his idiotic self!

We finally had a weekend with decent weather here. As opposed to the last month or so, which consisted of beautiful weather during the week and crappy weather on the weekends. And the forecast looks like rain for part of the upcoming week. But not for the weekend! Though accuracy that far out is a joke.

Now, will the next volume pick up where the last one left off, or will there be a time skip or what? And if it doesn't skip time, will it change focus? My bet would be that it won't open up with Miki and Luke the moment after the last panel of volume four. Maybe with Kait and Karl and unconscious Mark. Or Connor and Jack both leaving town their own ways.

Yay! Cave Trolls live in Whitechapel as well as Moria!

I really wonder if MrCuntyCuntCunt knows how long Paul must spend on each page, let alone update. Without considering things like eating, paperwork (the joys of being freelance/contracted) I can imagine every waking hour goes into making those pages, I know that's how I am with my webcomic. I envy Paul's ability to churn out that many pages most of the time. But sometimes things happen. diddums. It's only a week. Get a life!

In the past two years, there have been 96 full episodes, and 23 notices, skips, or holidays. That means there's about a 3 to 1 ratio of comics to skips, which are usually a bit of explaining or ads to buy the physical product so this experiment can make some money and keep running. (Sometimes, like the Christmas weeks, we get extra goodies, so I'd consider those not really skip weeks.) However, there are 576 pages of Freakangels. If we did this on a typical one-page-every-other-day-if-you're-lucky schedule, that's nearly five years' worth of content.

So I can handle a skip week every now and then. And that's why whenever somebody bitches about it, I feel they get what they rightly deserve.

Thanks Warren, Paul (and the rest of the art team, whose names I can never seem to retain), Ariana, Avatar, and all the rest of you people that read the thing and buy the books so I can keep reading and buying it, too.

Further maths: Of the 119 weeks total the comic has been going, 19% of the updates have been non-story posts. A typical half-hour of television is 28% adverts. Print magazines--those that are still alive--are even more ad-laden. So I can handle a bit of non-content 19% of the time (some of which is still technically content.) So in short, kindly stfu, pal.
