    Hi all!

    London MCM Expo is around the corner again, mark 29th/30th May in your calenders!

    Warren himself will be joining us again in the ComicVillage on the Saturday afternoon from 1pm - weeeee!

    If you need any more to convince you, here's the blurb from the site:

    We're overjoyed at the amount of fantastic creators who are signing up to the village, and we hope you will be too.
    There's something of an international flavour amongst the creators this time around, with comic circles and creators joining us from Spain, Germany and Japan - we hope they'll feel at home in the Village! Our very own home-grown independent creators are out in force again, presenting us with wonders like Marc Ellerby, OrangUtan, John Allison and Sweatdrop Studios, and within the ranks of the professional creators are returning stars like Ben Templesmith, Svetlana Chmakova, Jamie McKelvie and Kieron Gillen, and some new faces in the form of fabtastic writers like Paul Cornell, Robin Furth and legend Richard Starkings. We could go on, but you're probably better off scanning the lovely list and getting as excited as we are about May's MCM Expo.

    Oh, bum! I'm going to miss it again! Will someone take photos and post them up here please? Damn the draw of Cornwall for the weekend!
  2.  (8260.4)
    :) Cool!
    I'll be there throughout the weekend too, so I guess there's a rare chance to get Freakangels double-signed at the same con.

    Ooh! Wish I'd known in advance though 'cause I've been thinking 'FreakAngels cosplay' for a while now. Ah well, I'll be in my kimono instead. Huzzah for double signage! (To match my vol 1).

    I've not been to one of these events before, and am thinking of coming along and bringing my three year old boy.

    He'd love seeing people in all the costumes etc, but does anyone have any idea whether it's a suitable thing for kids?

    @Oddcult

    It OK for kids, but it might be a tad warm, and some of the costumes might trend toward inappropriate/ porny... made worse for the fact some of the people wearing them are under the age of consent. Take mind bleach, mineral water and whatever back up plan you can make for a small person.

    Cheers. Not too worried about dodgy costumes, as you know, we're all just shaved monkeys really. Although, if anyone does turn up in some kind of full-on tentacle-rape-in-progress ensemble, I might turn him the other way.

    What's the venue like in terms of finding a quiet spot to eat?

    And where will everyone be drinking? If there's a sekrit clubhouse, give me the heads up, yah?

    My plan is to take the small one with a small sketchbook, so he can collect pictures to put on his bedroom wall. And to get him to do his Cthulu and Zombie impressions for people, for teh cute. Oh, and he can sing the Totoro and Spiderman theme songs. That has to be worth a sketch here and there, right?

    If you don't have a pre-registered ticket the queueing to get one and then get in is pretty monumental, so you'll want a plan for that. I got there around half nine for the last one and it was gone noon by the time I got in... That was the autumn one though, does the late spring one tend towards more or less visitors?

    The venue gets pretty hot, and for some reason not all the food places in the Excel were open last time (and they're all really pricey anyway). Take plenty of bottled water.

    @Oddcult - looks like the e-tickets are still available at:

    https://www.mcmexpogroup.com/store/

    these gain you entry from 9am instead of the standard 11am. Kids under 10 go free also.

    edit - I would also like to know if there is any secret drinking venue in the vicinity of Excel

    For sneak and others wanting a drink/meet up warren posted on his site;

    "Chances are also good that I’ll be at that pub opposite the Excel — I think it’s the Fox? — at some point later."

    referring to his 1pm Saturday appearance, though I understand he will have eels concealed about his person.

    @Oddcult.

    The Fox is over 21's, so you might have trouble blagging your little dude in there. Then again they might have a kids policy (but the 21s thing makes me think not so much).

    That said, if it's sunny, you should be able to sit outside. Would be cool to meet up in meat space, I'll be wearing red converse, a red and white check shirt. I'm about 6'2", pale (shocking I know) with dark brown hair. Would be neat to meet some Whitechapelers (Whitechapelees?)

    Whitechaps, chapettes?

    EDIT: Sorry, sounded better than it looked.
