That was wonderful. One of the best recaps I've ever read, with plenty of new info slipped in. The laugh out loud point for me was Kirk's linguistic education.

Weather has been alternating between cool but bright sunny days, and cooler rainy days. Exactly the conditions I like, so I'm pretty chuffed. Even better they're making us do prolonged "be all you can be!" training course at work, which means getting paid to sit around and watch videos for several hours a week. Life is good.

I suppose a narcissist would think well of himself.

...but Luke's inner voice is coming across as lot more reasonable than I've ever seen him act. KK might be a horrible girl who makes loud noises (and disses his manhood in his first scene), but Arkady (who gave him a taste of what her OD was like for being a mind controlling bastard on his ex) and 'other-half' Jack are both shown in a fairly sympathetic light.

Interesting... maybe Luke's been on a week long bender? Maybe that hole in the head did him some good: like opening his mind up!?

Just regarding the last panel, Luke says "And Luke has just explained this all to himself in the first person..." but shouldn't that be "third person" given that he is referring to himself by name? In first person narrative the subject is yourself, so you use words like "I" or "we". In second person narrative the subject is the reader/listener, so you would use "you". Third person is where the subject is someone other than the narrator or the reader/listener, so you refer to the subject as "he/she", "they", or by name. I don't mean to be a grammar nazi or anything...but after rereading that, I suppose I am. Still, thought it should be said.

Anyway, can't wait to see how Luke managed to survive a shot to the head. Maybe Karl's sort of right, but it's Luke who's a zombie and not Mark. Also, I love how Karl is poking Mark's face with his toe. :p

Great! So great! This is a wonderful way to bring new readers in. A great recap for everyone else.

Seattle is cold, rainy, and winter like. I hate it and want to know what happened to Spring. Otherwise, it's about to be the weekend, I have a huge stack of comics and other books to read, and a weekend with no other plans. All will be right in my world... for two days, at least.

    cheers

Fantastic recap. Great way to summarize everything for the new volume. The Freaktots are freaky indeed. And I love the horrified look on everyone's face as they stare in Luke's direction, compared with Luke's own expression of anger and contempt.

Freakangels just keeps getting better and better.

Hot here-once the marine layer burns off. That and the earthquakes.

0097: This is setting things up for the next development.
Is Luke to be the new narrative-point, now that Connor is just stepping out?
I couldn't agree more- KK is horrible ! And so was her KK-copter ! !
Why can't she just learn to fly like any other person with super powers ?

Page six panel three, strip-out the two narrative panels but run it with the caption "Hello, I'm Luke, and I have no idea why I'm not dead," and tweet-blast-post THAT across the planet.

    Just thinking.

YES!!! IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!. Sorry, just had to get that out. On a calmer, less ecstatically exultant tone, did anyone else lol at head-plug? I loved this. Hey, did anyone else catch the phrase, "A little bigger than MOST of them intended."? Does this imply someone wanted the world to end? Loved the kid 'angels, couldn't pick out every single one, but most of them were pretty easy to recognize, great job by the artists incorporating traits of the characters into their kid versions.

The recap about Arkady made me think perhaps Luke might have improved access to the package.

Roll on next week, I can't wait to see how Volume 5 unfolds.

Grand art as always Mr Duffield!

Alright, you've got six pages to retell the entire story up to now (including background) AND insert a unique twist at the end. GO!

    BRAVO! Excellent return.

KK is horrible. She shagged a boy from Lambeth Road. Not quite Lex-Luthor-stole-forty-pies-and-that's-terrible-horrible but still.

Weather lovely. Food very greasy. Tonight:beer and lots of it.

Cracking synopserizationating, Warren. Your words were never... erm, more weller chosen.

citruscreed's reference to "Freakbabies" caused the spontaneous mental image of an old-school animated TV series, a la Muppet Babies, Disney Babies, Tiny Toony Babies, and mrpaulgray. This caused some helpless roflmaoing for a solid spell thereafter, I can tell ya f'r got dang sure.

    Now, once again, breechward ho!

God baby Kirk is so gaddamned cute... he looks like he wants to stab my eyes out.

I don't know who looks sadder, Sirkka or Connor. I don't know who looks more tired, Kait or Miki.

    "A horrible girl." Classic!

We've been told before that this is how Luke thinks. He sees everything except the point.

fa4ever (and any other members or creators) -
could you point out the kid 'angels you managed to recognize? i'm sure only about the really obvious ones, like caz and miki. i'm not super good on the recognizing bit...

on another note, this is my first post here on whitechapel. being an avid fan of the comic for a long time now, i thought maybe it's time to say hello...
so hello, i'm lily. i'm 22. a fan of quality webcomics, and comic strips. can anyone say 'calvin and hobbes'?

wonderful episode today, interesting to read a recap told by one of the crazier angels. and i love how the art keeps getting better and better all the time. back in volume one i thought it was great, but now even more so.
and the writing too, of course. *gently pats warren ellis on the head*

There's something unusually beautiful about Miki in her panel. I can't quite place it. She just seems to be rendered a bit more gracefully than usual. Maybe it's just me.

Not cold here. Rainy and spring-y. Not so keen on the rainy bit.

    Whee!

It was warm (though not hot) yesterday, and sunny. Today is a bit on the chilly side and rainy. Which is as it should be in spring.

Nifty recap. Loved the comment about Karl and his tinfoil hat! Almost sounds like Luke's impressed at Alice and Jack for shooting him. Like it brought them up a notch in his eyes or something. Maybe getting killed was good for Luke. Or maybe he's in too much pain to be as much of a jerk as he usually is. Even the snark about KK was toned down.

    Can't wait for next week!

    @sphinx

Back row: Kaitlyn (look closely at the eyes), Karl (shape of the face), Luke (he's got that sneer), KK (hair)

Next row forward: Jack and Sirrka, Kirk

Next row forward: Caz, Mark (see how trustworthy he looks?), Arkady (shape of the face)

Front: Connor and Miki (look closely at the eyes)

I have no real idea if I'm even close on some of them, but these were my guesses.

    Front row: Mark, Kait
    Second row: Caz, Karl, Arkady
    Third row: Connor, Miki, Kirk
Back row: Sirkka, Luke, Jack, KK

I don't look back over old episodes too often. I'm kind of a casual reader, so excuse me if I've been ignorant of something that you all see as obvious.

thanks longtimelurker and Tasrayryn. i'm sure we'll figure it out eventually...
they look quite devious, these wee angels. perhaps it's a part of being all special.

    @Tasrayryn

    No no no.

    Mark wasn't "fat," Connor was.

Jack had the rumpled "little boy" hair and Sirkka had the hairpins. And they are going to stand next to each other.

Luke has the sneer. Baby Miki has Kaitlyn's haircut, but look at the eyes.

EDIT TO ADD: Just having fun here, no offense meant.
