DESPERADO INTRO. IN MY OPINION, ONE OF STEVE BUSCEMIS BEST SCENES. AND IT SETS UP THE "MYTH" OF THE MARIACHI BEAUTIFULLY. ALL IN ALL A GREAT MOVIE, EXCEPT FOR THE LAST 20 MINUTES WHICH KIND OF FIZZLE OUT, LIKE RODRIGUEZ EITHER RAN OUT OF MONEY OR COULDN'T FIGURE OUT A WAY TO END IT PROPERLY.
Edit: and if we're mentioning Ghost in the Shell, the pre-credit opening of the first movie is just teriffic. Even when it's dubbed. The credits themselves too, of course.
The Batman opening credit sequence is one of the few that I delight in every time I see it and never skip... including watching the video post just now even though I know it well and truly by heart. The music, the dark retro-streamline aesthetic, the simple, powerful animation and the use of light and shadow... just perfect. Good pick, solario.
Yes, Solario, yes!! I had the good fortune to be a child when Batman The Animated Series was on TV and I watched it ritually as only children can. I believe that my being a grown woman of good taste today can be partially attributed to that opening sequence.
Plus, a special nod to The Hangover. The end credits actually serve more than a humorous purpose - they tell us just what happened during the guys' blackout.
