Same here - this was mentally pre-ordered on the strength of the first two pages alone; pages three and four just re-confirmed this as an essential purchase.
Thanks so much for raising the bar so incredibly high for other artists named Paul, you talented bastard! : ) Stunning work, you are so deserving of all the nice words people are throwing your way.
mine arrived yesterday. it's beautiful. I've re-"read" it twice now. the format lends itself to meticulous inspection of each panel/page and renders one's mind sufficiently and most cosmically blown. when I'd finished my 2nd go and slid it back into it's protective cardboard mailer, I just sat there holding it and basking in the tangibility of it all. here, again, is another example of something that just would not have the same impact in a digital medium. print lives and thrives!
anyone else got theirs yet? I'd love to participate in some speculation as to what may be actually happening here.
is he really outside, or does he jack into that large panel interface and blast himself through space on "the signal", using those giant satellite dishes that are immediately visible at the start and remain so throughout?
I mean, Paul's stated (and achieved) intent is a "visual poem" which means "open to discussion" right?
Mine came today, and I'm completely blown away by it. Even just as an object - so amazing. I own nothing else like it.
I don't think I've pondered it long enough to contribute to speculation but I think discussion would be good, and Paul can laugh at what we come up with ;)
