Warner Brothers has greenlit a new ThunderCats cartoon for 2011. Quick details: it will be airing on Cartoon Network, it will have an anime style, and it's being made by the same company who animated things like the Tekkenkinkreet movie, Gotham Knights, Halo Legends, and The Animatrix.

I don't know all the details but I know the original series was animated by a Japanese company, too, which is what gave it its distinct style. It was written and voiced here in the States but the actual animation came from Japan.

I know some people don't care for ThunderCats, and I readily admit it was cheesy as hell, but I don't care about the haters. My parents worked a lot when I was young so there were some weeks when I saw more of Lion-O and all his pals than my own parents.

Nothing can beat the original show just in terms of nostalgia, but I still consider this great news. There are some good names attached to this.

For those who haven't heard the outtakes from the original series yet:

No nostalgia value for me. But the new production team is pretty impressive. I wonder how they'll approach the remake. Camp? Something serious?
