As far as i'm concerned this is the most eclectic and diverse forum on the internet , in subjects discussed and members.
So if i asked you guys what remixes out there on the net you like i'm sure i'd get picks of music I couldn't get anywhere else.
SO I WANT YOUR REMIX SONGS OF ANY GENRE. BUT THE RULES ARE:
.1 No big name remixers, no fat boy slim, no armand van halen, The more eclectic, the more d.i.y guy in his bed room studio The more kudos to you.Maybe it's even you.
.2 the remix must blow our minds. "Like I would never have thought you could do that with that song!"
.3 This not an excuse for an Abstract, 2 bleeps and noise thread of tuneless tunes. Or free form jazz.
Well here goes my offering:
Marvin Gay ft Tammi Terrell with the velvet underground. "velvet martin"-
remix by Joey Propeller
This guy turned "aint no mountain high enough", a soaring optamistic, fast tempo, joyous soul song into a dark gothic, yearning twisted "gothic soul" song.which would fit into any David Lynch film. The video is also spooky and creepy.
over to you! "g-g-get cracking" as M.I.A would say...
DJ Earworm may be on the verge of being a big name, but I'm not familiar enough with the scene to be sure. I came across Earworm's stuff with the 2009 UNITED STATE OF POP mix, a very smooth and melodic mashup of last year's Top 25.
No i do not want just a mashup thread! though some great remixes might be mashups.
There are so many great bed room remixes, global remixers thanks to the net out there. So let's highlight some!
As for the NO famous remixer policy, if I didn't do that, the thread would turn into my favourite "Fat boy slim remix" thread or here's another "armand Van Halen" remix.
But the song remixed can be as famous as you want. Again, no abstract, no tune in it stuff. No free form jazz. Here.
An Example:
Here's a very famous tune remixed again! By some guy called the Coven.
Everything But The girl - "missing you" COVEN Dubstep remix
Not exactly a remix or mashup, but dumping this here anyway. It's the best summary of hip-hop from old school to recent that anyone's ever put together. It did the rounds late last year, but if you didn't see it then, you should now.
Oddcult - IDK, but for me (hip-hop fanatic of 20+ yrs standing) playing a ukulele while piss-poorly 'rapping' versions of the classic tunes of my youth is tantamount to blasphemy ;-]
Coincidentally, I have on my PC at home top-seacret remix of the 9th Wonder produced track "Threat" from Jay-Z's The Black Album... I'll see if it's available to DL anywhere & drop a link here if so...
