Seantaclaus' suggestion works for me. I like the Sticky threads, but I also like to be able to focus my attention on threads which don't meet the interest level required to be sticky.

In my experience stickies are more effective the fewer there are - when you have two many people just tend to scan past them and miss things that are genuinely important.
