I have recently discovered Cat Martino. She has footage on her Myspace of a show, while singing live she drops and records harmonies and backgrounds which she then incorporates into the song. She does this live; it is fantastic.

just saw a band called darla farmer and some friends of my boyfriend's, born empty, saturday. darla is weird kinda folky indie stuff. they have a brass section, and that always gets my attention. born empty is about the coolest power-pop band i've ever seen.
also got a free cd from a guy i hadn't seen in a while. he's a rapper.
