With the release of the big Super Bowl TV spot, how excited is everyone for the Iron Man movie? I, for one, am immensely excited, and maybe after seeing this new teaser, possibly more excited for this than the Dark Knight. It's sacrilegious for me to say that (Batman's my fav comic character), but that's how I'm feeling this morning.
I think Iron Man has a chance, but it may very well flop. It seems like they have a lot going on this time around. Evil War Monger Tony, scared Prisoner Tony, changed and motivated to redeem himself Tony(forges Old Suit), new inventive Tony(working on creating the current Iron Man suit), and finally Iron Man Tony. That's a whole lotta Stark, plus they have to devote time towards developing the villain, a love interest, supporting cast, yada yada. That's a lot of balls in the air and it would be easy to miss one.
I'd say it has a better shot at rocking then Dark Knight, easily. But with Spider-Man 3 and the slew of other super hero movies that were mediocre-to-sucking, my faith is shaken.
I'm really excited about it....the movie looks terrific, and IRON MAN is one on my favourite characters (I really have to thank warren ellis for his EXTREMIS arc...but also have to shout and cry and complain like a baby cause he left after that. So, I have nothing else to say. And even if i like batman...i'm much more excited about this one than about the dark knight..mainly because i think that Batman begins was truly overrrated, and the teaser is quite unimpressive (except sadly for ledger's joker!).
That good is it? Still at work so I'll have to watch it when I get back home...if my soundcard hasn't completely blown up (cruddy realtek ac97 integrated pos).
I have to say it's been all TDK, and I've been getting pretty po'd about the lack of stuff coming from Camp Favreau regarding this supposedly huge film. If I see one more posed Ironman shot, or Downey waggling his fingers I'll spit brain.
Exactly! I have not seen one thing from the Incredible Hulk, since I'm not counting shots of Edward Norton standing around. I keep forgetting it is even coming out this summer.
I love love love ARG's....but weirdly enough i don't think they don't fit well with fantasy of science fiction that has a long previous background (as for example Batman or Star trek), I think they are far better for things that you don't really kow a lot and can help to build a world around it, like in cloverfield or LOST. I say it related to the TDK ARG that didn't get me.
And relating to that one...what about the NEW HULK novie? I really liked ang lee's HULK...Bana was a great banner. any thoughts about this?
I was a big fan of Ang Lee's Hulk, as well. I thought everyone did a great job with their characters, and I've been rather cheesed with all of the hate that has been layed upon that movie. I absolutely loved the comic panel editing that Lee brought to the film, and cann't think of any other movie that has since used the technique. I'm still a little amazed at the strong cast that jumped on for Iron Man and Incredible Hulk. It's unfortunate that we lose Jennifer Connelly in the Betty Rose role, being replaced by Liv Tyler (snoose), but we do get Tim Roth, William Hurt, and Tim Blake Nelson. Hells yeah! Bana certainly did play a great Banner, but I can see Edward Norton doing well with the character, too. And if they can truly bring some awesome HULK SMASH action scenes to this new one, this new Hulk will definately get my blessing.
Ang Lee's Hulk got a little weird at the end, and the fight in the redwoods was waaaaaaay too dark to fully enjoy, but the majority of people that hated it tend to be people that like shitty, template action movies anyways.
I love Downey, which may drag me out to the cinema, but I have very little faith in Favreau, the movie doesn't look particularly good and Tony's personality in the comics has me totally turned off.
