    Tinariwen - Aman Iman

    Tinariwen was founded by Ibrahim Ag Alhabib, who at age 4 witnessed the execution of his father (a Tuareg rebel) during a 1963 uprising in Mali. As a child he saw a western film in which a cowboy played a guitar. Ag Alhabib built his own guitar out of a tin can, a stick and bicycle brake wire. He started to play old Tuareg and modern Arabic pop tunes. Ag Alhabib first lived in refugee camps and later resided with other Tuareg exiles in Libya and Algeria.

    I dunno why this makes me laugh, but it does.
    I feel like I dreamt of this song before I ever heard it. I immediately rewound after it finished.
    I love The Tall Dwarfs and The Clean, so I started listening to other artists on the Flying Nun record label. How much incredible music came out of that label?! Amazing.
    I hear a superficial resemblance to LCD Soundsystem's "all my friends," but who knows. The feedback at the end really does it for me. Are there any scientific papers on feedbacks effect on the brain?

    @nigredo I just found out Oneohtrix Point Never, Burning Star Core and a bunch of other interesting bands are playing in my town next month! Excited! I need some live noise!

    Presently stuck in my head: Janelle Monáe's "Cold War" and the Memory Tapes' remix of the Tanlines song "Real Life." Impressively catchy, both.

    Not far behind are Wild Nothing's "Chinatown" and The Prids' album "Chronosynclastic," both of which tap into a nicely hazy pop sound.

    I've also been delving into late-70s/early 80s ambient/drone & related -- Harmonia & Eno '76's Tracks & Traces, Neu!'s Neu! 75, and the self-titled Penguin Cafe Orchestra album...
