I quite like Owen Pallett's solo album (Heartland), I haven't listened to it enough though.
And the new Gogol Bordello (Trans-continental hustle) is good too. Produced by Rick Rubin.
I also just got a very interesting 2 CDs Alva Noto compilation (For 1+2) but this particular edition might only have been released here in Japan though...

And it's from last year so it doesn't count but I discovered this band by accident a few weeks ago and really, really like their stuff : Amaailman Vasarat - Huuro Kolkko. They call themselves the finnish prophets of fictional world music, or kebab-kosher-jazz-film-traffic-punk-music with a unique scandinavian acoustic touch. Evelyn Evelyn - Evelyn Evelyn

This is the single best concept album since Mr Cooper's almighty Welcome To My Nightmare. It all starts very much as you would expect something from Miss Palmer and Mr Webley, with the delicious dark humour of The Tragic Events - Part I beautifully off-set by the music-hall riff of Have You Seen My Sister Evelyn and complemented by the gloriously surreal Chicken Man.
But the real artistic revelation comes on the gut-wrenching spoken centre-piece, The Tragic Events - Part II, which takes everything from nice dark humour to Pitch Black social commentary dealing with the reality behind a horribly prevalent internet phenomenon I've never heard mentioned by any artist/musician of note. The swift re-cap in the form of Sandy Fishnets just rubs the salt in the fresh hole in your chest and kicks all competition out of the park. From that point on things start to lighten with the sisters' fine tribute to their pet Elephant Elephant and reaches a wonderful fun high on the multi-referential My Space.

I keep hearing it's terrible but that's what people said about Arular as well, and really, because at the time it was primitive in terms of its layout, but it was the future. So your statement about Maya occurring to you as the future, that's a good sign in my book. She's not my favorite artist, but even disaffected and bored some people just have their finger on a pulse, so to speak. Look at Jim Morrison, for a bit of a perpendicular example. I'm biased here. I've been waiting forever to find out how this story started, and not only did the album tell me, it came with a book, so I didn't even have to fill in the gaps between the songs. Still, it's a damned good listen, if you're into their thing.

Against Me! - White Crosses

All slicked up, just like their last album, but it still can't hide the energy this band has. Every song just sounds like they're bleeding their souls out, just for you.

Gogol Bordello - Trans-continental Hustle

I think this got a bit over produced, but I still love their crazy fusion. The heart of the band shines through, but it's as if they put a giant lampshade over a gypsy bonfire.

MC Frontalot - Zero Day

Nerdcore hip hop gets better and better. Plus, it has the Wil Wheaton theme song on it.
