Vote for Yea on the weekly review thread idea. With most comics being $2.99+ (US), I appreciate reading as many reviews as possible, since I'm usually on the fence with most comics (unless I'm a follower of the writer/artist).
As for this week, can't wait for Omega The Unknown, Scalped and Doktor Sleepless. I am dearly in love with Omega. It's so weirdly different from anything else out there. A third of #4 was thought bubble narration from a outdoor statue, for pete's sake!
And thank you, Warren, for mentioning Scalped. Have you started reading it yet?
Yea. I wouldn't post reviews myself but I'd be interested to read a thread were others suitably minded.
From that list I'll pick up Doc, Omega and out of curiosity Clandestine. I'm sure I'm wrong but I haven't checked out up Northlanders yet, much as I like Brian's work.
I think a weekly review thread would be useful. In the grand scheme of things, I read your books, Warren, and Fables, I was reading American Wasteland but now have to wait until it's released in graphic novel form around August to get the last bit of it because the last issue was never published and won't be...and there are a few others on the list, but I'd be curious to know what people here think of other comics that are out there.
I would like to see a weekly review thread, hell I might even be able to throw in a review or two. I would like to see reviews that are better than the usual Stacks, I like it read it.
I work at my LCS on Wednesday, so I could get some reviews up Wednesday evening. However, a lot of the time the first thing I read has more to do with its saleability, unless it's by Mike Mignola or Eric Powell or, of course, Warren. I find more and more I read some things just to have read them, and that trend is definitely going to come to a head, and soon. I can say, though, that Twelve #2 is pretty good. It came in the Marvel preview books last week and I can say that it is looking like a good read for anyone into kooky Golden Age heroes.
I can see the review thread being hardly used, or totally abused. Give it a trial run and see how it goes. Me, I doubt I'd post in it, but I would read what others have said.
I tend to agree. I asked about one ages ago and let the idea go because I figure it would would either degenerate or fade away. But if we want a trial run, I will do my part and throw in a short review or two a week. Well, when I get my comics which is not until I get home next week.
dunno that i'd review anything, but i'd sure as hell read what others have to say. i use this board to get into books i wouldn't have ordered otherwise.
Ha, nice observation, Warren! I would take full use of it, reading and writing reviews, though I tend not to review things with multi-paragraph analyses.
