My week has varied between enjoyable interludes and the kind of shit that would make Saint Francis of Assisi kick puppies.
On the upside I got Summer Glau's autograph at the local yearly nerdfest and had a conversation about Warren's World Cup commentary with a cute girl I bought the first three Transmetropolitan trades from (shameful to admit I've never read them before - rather disturbingly I seem to have had a Spider Jerusalem shaped hole in my brain just waiting for him to drop into). I also found a cheap Global Frequency trade at a discount booksale I staggered into this afternoon. (I shan't discuss the puppy-kicking shit)
Poor Connor. Poor angsty Connor. Someone should tell him that running away is the easy answer (and that Luke's not dead, that might be important...)
Love Paul's linework in this episode, particularly the panel of the kids splashing in the puddle, and Arkady's puppy-dog eyes expression. The silent panels are some of my favourite Freakangels moments.... There's something about the way Warren and Paul plot the silent beats that makes me take my time with them, and really stretch to imagine the frames in between. Lovely, meditative stuff. Well done guys.
Had a great week creatively - we've got webcomics on my site now, which is a long-term ambition starting to get fulfilled. This makes me happy.
Connor must be serious. It'd take a steely resolve to blank Arkady. Conner would be a cool world-traveller type though, with his moodiness and package-- I mean the powers. Seriously.
I like that the emerging people are finding blood and mayhem everywhere and they act shocked.
Good morning! This was a nice surprise, up and spiffy and sharp so (relatively) early. And that was indeed a lovely breath of an episode. Nice work, guys. Have a restive weekend.
This must be catching up to everything that's happened. Visually, very nice. Though somewhat disorienting, because it could be only minutes since the actions of many episodes. I like it.
Poor Connor- he believes in something that might be a notch or two higher on the moral scale. Will he change if he learns the latest information on their FreakAngel-ism?
We could have done without the computer dying here, and taking our only copy of Photoshop with it. But at least a new machine is imminent, so at least I'll be able to scan again, if nothing else...
Yes, that panel of Arkady is pretty much the cutest thing ever.
Also, on page 1, panel 4 - do two of those people look a bit like Karl and Jack to anyone else? I saw that and thought: "Holy shit, Kait's got them on work detail already?"
texture refers to "the silent panels" (which would make a great title for a novel), but our brains, trained on the cinema, tend to provide a soundtrack.
I heard the Moody Blues' Another Morning behind this pastoral village scene (with a few ominous chords rising up against it when the sidewalk splat was discovered, and some cold echoey reverb when we saw the flooded torture pit). Of course, I am inconceivably old, and the Moodies are unlikely to be quite the same cultural touchstone to you li'l bitty kids. So here is a question:
Did you hear soundtrack music, and if so, what was it?
Why does it feel like it's been more than two weeks since the last FA?
I don't know if I want to hug Connor or smack him. And is Sirkka naked sitting there on her bed being miserable? She needs something like the equivalent of the kick in the crotch that Jack got, courtesy of Kait. (Y'know, Freakangels really lends itself to alliteration.) If part of their angstiness is due to FAs killing FAs, hey, nobody's actually dead. Or at least didn't stay that way. I do wonder why nobody's walked off out of sheer annoyance with the others before now. Though of course, somebody could have, and then come back.
And cows! Highland cows! They're cool. I read the other day in National Geographic how scientists are trying to bring back the aurochs starting with cows that have aurochs genes, which includes Highland cows.
Swine, and those cool 'cows' {i know} make an appearance. I must admit, the wreckage just laying there was so sad. I really really hope that is either fixed or we get a V.2 with some awesome upgrades. Just have to see!
Hanging in there. Each day has it's own difficulty; however, I manage.
Connor has a case of the prejudices, grouping everyone together like that. Arkady hasn't argued anything with anyone, has she? Someone should hug the boy and tell him it's not all bad. Wise and mighty and huggable Arkady, doesn't? A sad day for angels.
Connor comes off as an idealist, but something tells me he could be the most influential of the group. I wonder if Kaitlyn will try and stop him leaving next week?
I figure most of our heroes have too much of a sibling kind of relationship to hook up and stuff, Lurker, but just hugging and talking about things and trying to be a little closer friends would be cause for computers falling in love with each other as they transmit the comic.
