A little late for this thread, but I doubt anyone noticed. The last two episodes of Happy Town were show on abc.com, which shows how sad it's ratings got. Since we're still in the afterglow of piss-off-you-bloody-colonial-religious-fanatics/Independence Day, there's not much new TV on.

Still things may improve Friday with the start of the fourth season of Eureka. As I understand it, James Callis is joining the show. Which means we may get a science harem. Haven debuts immediately afterward. I plan to catch at least the first episode, but what I've heard is not especially encouraging.

Still, the next week brings White Collar, Psych and That Cute Blond Girl from Coyote Ugly Doing Spy Stuff, so it should be interesting.

New Top Gear has been solid if not spectacular. Seemed to be a lot of wasted opportunity in the Germany episode, but you can't always strike gold I suppose. Watching No reservations with Anthony Bourdain lately, and every time I do i just want to travel more!

Meanwhile, the promos for Covert Affairs have got the following stuck in my brain:

  2.  (8520.4)
Covert Affairs... I can't get over what a terrible actress that girl is. I'm sorry, I tried and I just can't.

However, I did get hooked on The Good Guys. Terribly cheesy buddy-cop action TV. Glorious in its cheese. 1st episode, a guy lept onto the hood of a car, we learned the definition of "good cop/sick cop," and Colin Hanks is definitely the clone of his father, but not completely in a bad way. I don't figure it will last more than a season, but I'm along for the ride anyways.

Emmy nominations were announced. Lots of good shows nominated this year!

Recording lots of summer replacement stuff -- Warehouse 13, Leverage, and Royal Pains -- while the networks sleepwalk until next season.

I still have the Breaking Bad two hour finale to watch. The penultimate episode, "Half Measures" . . . holy crap!

Good Guys is fun. The "how we got here" flashbacks add a lot.

Judging from the pilot, I'm also liking Louie, a rather grim autobiographical comedy about a stand-up comic dealing with single fatherhood and dating.

EDIT: And I'm recording a lot of movies on "This," a syndicated movie channel. Sometimes you'll find something good there. Quite often, something really, really, really bad. For example, I just wasted an hour of my life watching a Yahoo Serious movie called Mr. Accident.. CLICK. Deleted.

Still loving The Good Guys (and there's a mini-marathon on FX tomorrow at 2 PM Central time).

Meanwhile, Eureka was back in form with a nice little time-travel episode that created multiple subtle but important changes in the various plotlines of the show, which should make for some interesting viewing for the future.

They have just started showing 'Southland' on More 4 over here and I am really enjoying it. Very clever and cool.

Eh---Hate to break it to you, StefanJ, but that Breaking Bad finale is only an hour. AMC tied the pilot of Rubicon to it and did not tell the DVR people about it.

Rubicon was nice and slow and smartly filmed and worth a shot...It should lessen the blow once you see that you're not in for two hours of Breaking Bad.

@ Nativio289. Thank Christ. I read StefanJ's post and thought, shit! I missed the last hour, that ending wasn't real!

Still enjoying The Good Guys. Favorite line tonight, "I burned the Guatemalan flag at his funeral!"

The Breaking Bad finale didn't have the bad-karma mind-fuck quality of last season's, but it certainly leaves our boys in a pickle.

After watching it, I watched an episode of Leverage in which the actor who plays "Gus" guest starred as an African blood diamond mogul. Talented guy!

No love for Burn Notice? Bruce Campbell and usually pretty helpful tips. Like how to use a can of dust spray to freeze a lock. Or how to get prints off a safe. Good wholesome stuff.

My favorite part is one of the guys in the special effects department despises CGI explosions, so everything they generate is on set. And occasionally upsets small neighborhoods in Miami where they film.

Dexter starts up next month too i think.

Not to mention that all of the gadgets improvised in Burn Notice actually work. You can make them. It takes a lot longer than Mr. Superspy, but it works.

I'm pretty sure Dexter is starting up again in September, as it always has.

I just watched through all of Breaking Bad a couple weeks ago and was blown away, now am desperately trying to catch up on Mad Men, only having just finished season one. After that I plan to go on to Deadwood and Rescue Me, so I have plenty to keep me occupied until the fall when way too many things are on.

Also, I forgot how much I missed Psych. That show is just too much fun.

I finally watched a whole episode of that new Betty White sitcom, Hot In Cleveland. To paraphrase Tallulah Bankhead, I could eat a videotape and puke a better show that that. It's a REAL Cleveland Steamer.

Been heavily bingeing on the Farscape re-runs on FX lately, so bad yet so good. Simply MUST track down the full box set...

As for new stuff, really liking Lie To Me. But then again i've always loved Tim Roth.
