Which comics news sites do you read regularly? I'm curious because I've been looking at them lately and have, well, developed an opinion or two. But before I get to that.... let's see which ones you're reading.
Here daily, RPGnet's Other Media forum daily, MightyGodKing every day or so, BleedingCool about weekly. So I tend to get my comics news from people I have shared interests with who go to the full-on news sites posting threads on specific subjects.
Journalista, the Comics Journal's news blog, is probably my favourite. Other include Bleeding Cool, Bugpowder (UK small press comics news blog, not as active as it once was), Down the Tubes, the Forbidden Planet Blog Log, Mark Kardwell's Bad Librarianship, and that's about it. Mostly UK-centric. There are others in my rss reader, but they either don't update very often or I just skim them.
I've only recently started keeping up w/ Bleeding Cool, and that's it. I'll check links to CA and whatnot if they catch my interest, but I don't think comic news interests me as much as comics themselves.
I get my comics news from a variety of sources, none of which are comic news sites. Here is good, for sure. There's lots of stuff on Whitechapel that I wouldn't have otherwise heard of. Twitter, when you follow comics people, is great because they share the neat-o work their friends are doing, as well as keep you up to date on the stuff they are working on. On a rare occasion, Coilhouse will do a post about comics, which is great. Wouldn't have found Escape From Dullsville, or any other stuff by Ristaino without them. He's now a favorite. I love comics. I want to make them for a living. But I haven't found a website that caters to the indie, self-published, or weird comics, and those are the ones I really dig. Usually I follow publishers news if they publish stuff I really like, but end up missing a lot that way. So I tend to just listen when someone with good taste says to read this graphic novel or that comic.
The only dedicated comics news sites I read with any regularity is Bleeding Cool. Otherwise my main sources are here, occasionally CBR, and also the tumblr comics community keeps me up to date with bits and pieces of what's going on. Also, as fishelle says twitter is a useful grapevine for interesting tidbits.
Bleeding cool I've dropped and gone back to a few times just because Rich Johnston annoys me a bit but then I find sites like TMZ annoying too so I guess that's the point.
iFanboy I watch and listen to their podcasts each week. iFanboy, CBR, and Bleeding cool are in my rss reader and I read the headlines and click through if Im interested. I dont go to the actual sites unless I click through to read an article. Mostly CBR. I do not like some of the writers at iFanboy and they do too much non-news stuff that just is really silly that I don't like.
CBR, with stray bits from Bleeding Cool and here, mostly.
There are a handful of others that pop into there, such as Hypergeek, Comics Alliance, and something that must be completely irrelevant, given that I'm totally spacing the name.
Much/most of my exposure to those outside of here tends to be a when I catch things that pop up in my Twitter feed from those sites.
IGN is way too cynical for me, especially in their reviews. I wonder if they all fancy themselves the Yahtzee of comics or something. Either way whatever they do doesn't work for me.
I stopped reading them. To be honest the buzz that I read about things from folks in this place has so far provided a better guide for the few comics I actually pick up from time to time.
