What have the freakangels kids done to have all that display of police and military force to hunt them? Or this is only paranoa and fear of the different?

Resisting arrest escalates the conflict, whether you have psychic powers or not.

I've often wondered what the catalyst was that put them on the run in the first place. Did on of their parents turn them in? A neighbor? Did one of them get careless and accidentally kill someone or something? Episode 97, page one says: "As they grew up, they stuck together so closely you might think they were related. They began to develop mental and physical talents that were variously described as "freaky," "weird," "Satanic," "alien," and "angelic." Also, "a clear and present danger to national, if not global, security.""

It seems like their powers weren't so much of a secret to quite a few people to have that many descriptors applied to them as they were growing up. At what point did they become perceived as being so dangerous that they were a threat to global security?

Being a little bit different in Britain can be enough these days...

It sounds like they spent their early childhood with parents - though not all had the standard 2-parent household, it seems. How/when some authority other than their parents established itself in their lives is kind of unclear. Seemed to be a benign relationship around 14-ish, but by 16 something had gone awry. Who did what to whom, though (e.g. who started it), remains unknown. Keep in mind all of them were born exactly at the same time in the same town. Whether that's a coincidence or an intentional...thing... remains to be seen.

But it definitely escalated to the point each side was willing to destroy the other. Mark went for a "nuclear" option and the other Angels were not in a position (not knowing that's what he was doing) to stop him. So now the 'Angels feel kind of sure they had better not let the survivors know their lives were completely fucked thanks to them.

People might have seen them as "freaky" without fully being aware of their powers - just that there was something very strange about them. It says that their parents turned them in and then the whole country was after them. I agree that I think at least one of the FreakAngels might have done something to get them negative attention. Maybe something happened with Arkady surrounding her overdose and that 'boyfriend' that was mentioned? I think a fair few of those kids have skeletons in their closets beyond their powers, being hunted and what they did to the world.

parts of their past is revealed during the story, more may follow? Otherwise it is up to your own fantasy on how we deal with kids who don't fit in our standard categories. I suppose that does not come out really positive as you think on how kids with red hair are treated, or with dark skins, or whatever... :-( Just think of how a young kid might react when (s)he is harrassed constantly because it has powers it hardly can control or knows about what they really are him/herself. One would freak out for less I think.... and the temptation of using whatever power you have against everybody else would be very real... even without realising the scale of the consequences.
On that point I guess this story is as realistic as it could possibly be.
