    K-X-P - s/t

Really liking this one. Sounds like Circle and Add N to (X) jamming after they played a couple of Throbbing Gristle records.

Listening a lot to Brad Laner's Natural Selections. He's a veteran of the LA underground scene (Medicine in particular), and his new one is an unpredictable shoegazey thing infused with Beach Boys and Eno's "Here Come The Warm Jets" (or something like that, to my ears).

Speaking of Lawrence Arms, I have been digging on that Sundowner record that Chris McCaughan of LA just put out. Kind of similar to Ragan's solo work, dark and dusty but with punk roots.

Bob Dylan - Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
    Sunn O))) - Moniliths & Demensions
Roky Erickson & the Aliens - The Evil One
    Lifetime - Lifetime

Tonto's Expanding Head Band - Zero Time

Been a hundred years since I heard that one. Recall it fondly (if vaguely).

I have been digging on that Sundowner record that Chris McCaughan of LA just put out

havent heard the new one, but i liked the old one. also last week a 'midwest, drunken pop punk' band came through called SUNDOWNERS. i got really excited, then just pissed off.

BLUE MEANIES-full throttle 12" (SKA CORE MASTERPIECE. only two ska core records come close, and those are SLAPSTICK-lookit! and LINK 80-killing katie)
NATION OF ULYSSESS-13 point plan to destroy america 12"
    ICE NINE-nobodys son 7"
GOOD MEN DIE LIKE DOGS 7" (local popunk)
    MIKA MIKO-666 12"
    CONVERGE-jane doe double 12"
THE ASSISTANT-tour ep (too bad this was so limited, this has the only appearance of some of these songs and may very well be the best emoviolence ep everrrrrr. ltd to 50 cdrs. crushing, beautiful, insanely intricate)
    ATARI TEENAGE RIOT-60 second wipeout
    DRESDEN DOLLS no/yes virginia

@ nigredo - yes, i'm with you. 'Clear Spot' quickly moved its way to the top. 'Strictly Personal' is right up there now too.

and to continue with weird shit (and not so weird shit) i've been downloading and listening to:

Kevin Ayers - A Joy Of A Toy
    Guru Guru - UFO
    Gong - Magick Brother
The Fugs - The Fugs First Record
    The Move - Move
The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band - Gorilla
The Bob Seger System - Ramblin' Gamblin' Man
Steve Miller Band Children Of The Future
The Shaggs - Philosophy of The World
[and basically the entire discography of Jorge Ben and Caetano Veloso, though i've only listening to a handful of their records]

    @ EelockTheWarrior

Glad to hear it. I should listen to it myself soon. Haven't played any Beefheart in ages.

    @ Brent Wilcox

Yeah, it had been a while for me too, so I thought I'd give it another spin.

Not been listening to anything special of late, well until I got Durch Die Wüste, by Hans Joachim Roedelius, which is fucking great.

    Mad Capsule Markets - 020120
    Rise Against - The Sufferer
Refused - Songs to fan the flames of discontent
Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come (again 'cos it's awesome)
    In Flames - Whoracle
Love and Rockets - Earth, Sun, Moon
Alkaline Trio - For Your Lungs Only EP (7")
Alkaline Trio - Maybe I'll Catch Fire (12" original pressing oh god yes)
    Killing Joke - Night Time
    Killing Joke - S/T (2003)

Need headfuck music to keep me interested in Thesis... two days til draft hand-in.

@joe - You didn't dig Sundowners? I would've figured if you liked Dear Landlord you'd like Sundowners. They are from my fair city and I have played in their basement before. Good dudes.
