@Paul "The Doctor Is Out!" LOL! Dude... that's rich. Reminds me of Fanny the Trannie from the Invisibles. at first I though the TARDIS was a public toilet.
@Tasdo: with any luck, Matt Smith will stick around for a decade or so and we won't have to worry about that any time soon. -

Honestly, I don't know if there is an explanation about the Doctor always being a white guy. It's not as I'm trying to piss on the purists, but I found it most interesting in these threads to assume nothing and build from the ground up, ignorantly or not!at first I though the TARDIS was a public toilet
That did run through my head, but I dismissed it as being too cliche/insulting assuming all cross-dressers are sex prowling deviants in public toilets. But I did think it would be funny if it was a public toilet and was constantly locked/out of order to the general public. I can see lines of people queuing outside the TARDIS.

Tasdo -- yes, I am rather proud of that. (In fact if no one else has ever thought of it before I am going to consider myself a Tragically Unrecognized Genius for the next 24 - 48 hours.)

For mine, I'm going on the fact that the 13th incarnation is supposed to be evil, and I REALLY wanted Paterson Joseph to be the current incarnation. Pretty basic.

My Thirteenth Doctor:
Went for maturity and strength. This is a man at the end of his arc. Also note: a salvaged Gallifreyan Fractal Cloak, disastrously shrunken Tardis, and a non-human companion.
Edit: he looks not a whole lot unlike Bill Murray. -

@struthersneil so far, this is the best concept in the thread. in this one image is so much potential. I'm overwhelmed at the leaps that my imagination is taking to fill in the gaps. your design has so much resonance within the Doctor's mythology, while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of a character and world that, though we know it to be theoretically limitless, does manage to retain it's conventions and formulas. 30+ years from now, when I am old and telling stories of how the Doctor was old when I was young, I hope my grandchildren and I are fortunate enough to accompany the Doctor on adventures half as exotic and incredible as the one you've portrayed here.

@frequent - Automatically my favourite for adapting the idea to a new medium, while keeping in classic elements. I'm fascinated with the idea of a little girl developing her own take on a character who was for years played by middle-aged men. Your version seems to hold herself in a mature, steely manner - contrasting with the older, male Doctors behaving like children. Terrific attention to detail there.
@Neilford - The return of the ? logo is always welcome, but I also love the designer label signature on that Cyberman. Customised Cybers would be a beautifully ludicrous visual.
@Sizer - I want to be you when I grow up. (I'm 20) But seriously, I agree that a female actor should play the final Doctor, just as long as she's a talented one. Thusfar, the only person I've seen arguing against it had no really valid points at all except "I don't like the idea". Again, using classic elements in a new way to establish the character. Very cool.
@Ted - The grimace makes it for me. Very nice.
@struthersneil - I like the implication that this is a hermit Doctor, perhaps stranded on a certain planet and/or time zone, or self-exiled. The combination of regal robes and authoritative staff with a wacky office t-shirt as worn by someone's crazy uncle and glowing sonic screwdriver create a lovely sense of contrast.

Dammit, as if I wasn't a huge Sizer fanboy already. GodDAMN, Paul, nice one!
Really great thread all around, though! I had a rough idea in my head for a new Sonic Screwdriver design, but it looks like utter crap when I try to sketch it out. I might give it another shot later. -
@mattk - A Dalek made into a TARDIS. Imagine the story line(s) to accomplish this or spawned from it. If this would be the last Doctor then it would make all kinds of crazy sense. Mass respect to you. Selah.

This is made from some different elements I've made over the years. I made this TARDIS interior concept back shortly before the new series premiered and the logo sometime before Steven Moffat took over. I thought that the 13th Doctor could look similar to a younger William Hartnell but in a black suit similar to some The Master has worn. I'm imagining the 13th Doctor would have a bit more of a darker side. I'm thinking he might be a little more of an "ends justifies the means" type person sometimes. He would be fighting back the possibility of becoming The Valyard. -

I'm of two minds on this.
1. They could ignore the matter entirely. Quite frankly, it only came up out of the blue in 1975 and has only been addressed a handful of times since. Since the show has continuity inconsistencies coming out of its ears, it's almost too inside baseball to make a fuss over.
2. They could milk an entire series out of the question. I could see the 13th Doctor in his final moments, fully expecting to die...and then he regenerates instead...and has no idea why. They could spend an entire series with the unexpected 14th Doctor just trying to figure out why he didn't die! -
