Strangely listening to old Underworld albums and random El-P records. El-P being strange as I find the music more akin to set pieces than melodies, a stage upon which his opinions run riot. So many of the rappers amongst my vinyl are poets, yet El-P's vocal elegance is more akin to a commanding stand up comic than a lyrical street voyeur. Then again, I'm just a sucker for lines like "I found love on a prison ship".
New Order - Movement Matt Skiba/Kevin Seconds - Split The Offspring - Ignition Killing Joke - Extremities, Dirt and Various Repressed Emotions NOFX - Punk in Drublic Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown (which is much better when you realise that every song is indeed a reference to other songs in the Big Rock Back Catalogue - currently trying to nail each reference) Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
I've be going through a strange "A" phase, don't know why...maybe my doctor can help!
Listening right now to:
Amon Tobin- Monthly Joints (Just wish it was more than 10 tracks!)
Was Listening to:
Arcade Fire- The Suburbs (I can't put my finger on this one, not as epic as Neon Bible...but still awesome!) Astrowind- Kurland (I need a Russian synthesizer now!) Autechre- Tri Repetae (One of favs, always playing Eutow!) Amorphous Androgynous-Tales of Ephidrina (FSOL...after all these years I still love ya!) Abre Ojos- Elements (Aussie synth drones from Melbourne, awesome soundscapes!)
