free/cheap rehearsal space in London is an elusive and frankly non-existent entity. it's been averaging out to about £50 for 3 hours or so from where we've been. why can't I know someone cool who owns an empty warehouse within walking distance of a tube station?
You don't have anything to lose by contacting these guys but it might be a bit short notice. I'll keep my ears open in case something turns up. I'd be glad to jam with you if we find a suitable space (i.e. someone's living room or basement).
I contributed vocals to one track on this, and I absolutely love the finished EP - it's a kind of concept album about quantum physics by a hip-hop / electro producer called Krowne. Lots of lovely synth lines and deep, deep bass. Hope you guys enjoy. The download is free.
Oookay, there's been talk of anarchist social centres and such, fingers crossed, knock on wood etc.
Which would mean a VENUE.
@offtandiscord & nigredo - Would you guys be up for a joint performance? So far the date being floated around is Saturday the 5th, but this is still very preliminary. Also, I've said I'd be fine with performing with just a donation jar or a similar basis, but how would you feel about this?
And oh yeah, I'll have a basecamp in Walthamstow, which (as I understand it) has pretty good connections into the city.
I'm facing a bit of a crisis at the moment (i.e. am broke and looking for a new place to live) what with the breakup and all, so I don't know how things are going to be around late February-late March. I might have to unload some of my gear for cash.
Definitely up for playing though, we'll see how it goes.
A couple of friend's (one of whom is also my bf's band mate) just released an EP today for their project, AAIMON. It's super cheap on band camp. Good for people who like dark music.
I'll be playing something in London on the 5th of March. It's not yet entirely sure whether I'll be playing a gig or a DJ set, or maybe both. If the first, let's see if we could get a collaboration going. I'll fill in the blanks as information trickles down to me.
My 'The Earth in Play' album from May of last year is now available on Bandcamp - here.
Vital Weekly said about it - 'Its perhaps too easy to say that this is just a beautiful piece of music, but it is.'
the album is entirely acoustic with me responsible for wooden flute, piano and sea recordings along with the final mix and my collaborator Darren providing the squeeze-box and guitar.
I still have a couple of real world copies left if any one likes what they hear.
Check out www.subcity.org from 1-2 this afternoon, I'll be on with my regular show, New Music Isn't New. Should bea good one this time, hope everyone enjoys it...
My band Five Beats One is putting out an EP. Check out our Kickstarter campaign. Special guest vocals by David J (Bauhaus/Love & Rockets) and Kerry Brown (producer for Smashing Pumpkins) will be mixing. Sorry there's not really any extant recordings to listen to yet...hence the campaign. =)
