Good morning, Whitechapel. It's Friday but, as Warren mentioned earlier in the week, it's an interlude.

It's moving into Autumn, here (by which I mean I think the last of our six whole days of summer are well gone by now), so I've been all about the Fall Projects -- consisting of cleaning/packing/formatting/squaring/clearing/stretching -- all the prep nonsense I do pretty much every year to make sure I'm squared away to bury myself in work all winter. What's everyone else been up to?

I forwarded that blog entry about Anton to all my cat-loving friends the other day and made them cry even though most of them don't know who Warren is. My sympathies to Warren and his family 'cos it's always shitty when you lose a friend whether human or feline. :(

I have mainly been coughing, sneezing and massaging my extremely sore throat. I am mundanely miserable.

It's also my birthday tomorrow, no cards yet. Another year closer to the end. I will be buying myself some cake, actually quite a lot of cake.

Sorry to hear about Anton, Warren.

I'm good, spending the last few days of my holiday in bed playing video games with my lovely girl. In a minute we are off to eat chips on the beach, and then we will look at turtles and suchlike in the sealife centre. So yeah, can't complain.

Got back from Crete in the foul hours of this morning to a lovely cat who missed us a lot (and vice versa of course), so Warren's post really hit home. When Shiva comes home from hunting I'm going to give her a petting the likes of which she's never experienced before.

    My condolences, Warren.

If someone told me their brother died, I'd be politely apologetic, but not overly moved. But if a stray cat gets it on a byway, I am morose for hours. I think I care more about cats than people, so Warren, your story of loving your rescued kitten friend for 16 years until his death tugged at my heartstrings. Be well and know you have my thoughts from way over her on the edge of California.

My sympathies Warren. My nineteen year old cat passed last year, I still miss her so much :/

It´s been a shit week here, my apartment got broken into and all my jewelry and my laptop got stolen . I´m just thankful they didn´t trash the place.
And now I´m at home, sick with a very sore throat and a high fewer, but I have two cuddly kitties to comfort me.

It was also my birthday this week, I turned 26 the 21st. I just hope that the rest of my 26th year will turn out better than the first week of it.

I worked. I did Professional Things. I tapped on a computer and Knew Things for money. Technically I have worked in exchange for monies since I quit my last full time job but either it was just to fill in for a day at a call center or stage managing. This is was actual work for actual full days for the last seven business days and the guy I'm working for is happy to have me return all of next week. And the pay is Professional Pay, too. Just in time - my phone is about to be turned off.

Two weeks full time work as a translator. Not bad for someone who hasn't really worked in *over* three years.

I am currently trying to decide how much self-pity in which to indulge as a result of my first attempt at posting to this thread being eaten by the site. (I'll go with keeping things in perspective; it worked well for me yesterday.)

    Condensed second attempt:

A little graphic design work which pays money; other design work, plus an increasing amount of writing, which does not. Idle hands do the Devil's work. (And he can do his own work, the lazy slug; I ain't runnin' no charity here.)

I understand your predicament completely Mr. Ellis.

I have several cats that my family and I have taken in from bad homes or the streets and bottle fed them. They are all house cats and incredibly people friendly.

Let's just say, I understand and I...I cried too. They're a part of the family, and someday, you'll have to bury them. I have to...do something else right now, just to cope with this.

Hope you're doing great, Ariana. It's getting back to 80 degress in L.A. wtf. I want some rain, or at least constant gloom. I walked outside this morning and it was so damn bright my eyes screamed.
Anyway, breakfast is two 12oz red bulls, and maybe coffee...been a long week. I don't know how I even got dressed this morning. Woke up with only 30 minutes left to get to work (which i still arrived 20 min. late for, haha) next thing I know I'm doing the whole suiting up sequence from a batmans movie. But yes, I'm ready for my day off tomorrow so I can get some drawins did.

    Long Live Anton <3
pretty sure there's a pic of him in Warren's flickr if you dig around enough.

Dealing with the beginning of a workweek at the office, not really dreading it because I could have a lot worse of a job. They keep me busy but I always find a bit of time to sneak in some time to work on creative stuff. As a result I've been getting a lot of good songwriting done and new songs fleshed out with the band so that's always a good thing.

Sorry to hear about your cat, sir. My best (some might say only) friend is my cat and I'd be knocked for six without him. Even though he's a bastard who truly enjoys biting me. The only way I can pat him is if I allow him to get on my lap and even then, veeery carefully. If he approves, he sucks his thumb (he has six toes on each foot) and digs his claws into roughly where my kidneys are. He was the runt of the litter, not expected to survive and my roommate's kid once locked him in a lunchbox for eight hours when he was a kitten. (She wanted to take him to school and forgot him.) He's rather poorly socialized but I wouldn't have him any other way. He's now seven (it's almost when I figure his birthday would be) and looking forward to a long and productive life. Of biting me and sucking his thumb.

    Onset of Autumn means:
    1) Working to get ahead on paying projects because I'll be returning to the glorious green of Ireland for a month in November
    2) Working to get my own book project in shape at the same time because too much work for other people can damage the brain
    3) Working out how to increase both parts of my work equation without inventing a time machine or dying
    4) Enjoying not sweating in the stupid sun anymore.
