    Here's an acoustic cover of Fever Ray's 'When I Grow Up' from First Aid Kit:

    Also, here's an unconventional take on ACDC :) (The Lost Fingers did a full album covering '80s tunes. They are fantastic!)

    @Jehrot: That Rodehead medley had me in stitches! Nice find.

    Whether you consider it a remix or a cover (with, uh, 'special guest' vocals), you can't say it isn't interesting:

    Just so this post qualifies in someway:

    Patti Smith. I once saw Chrissie Hynde on stage, talking about how you dress, saying that Rock and Roll is supposed to be "Fuck you" not "Fuck me".

    Sam Bush and John Cowan, from Bluegrass Revival, playing a Marley cover. They have riddim.

    This is awesome. I just had a huge conversation with some friends about awesome covers the other day. Alot of them made this list already.

    I noticed someone already mentioned Nouvelle Vague but this cover always makes my day:
    Nouvelle Vague: Too Drunk to Fuck

    I wrote a paper on Cat Power's cover of Satisifaction, so this is still close to my heart.
    Cat Power: Satisifaction

    Wish I could remember more from the conversation...

    OK, I can't find it anywhere, but bear with me;

    John "Jughead" Pearson, who was in Screeching Weasel, has this band called Even In Blackouts that do a FUCKING AMAZING cover of "Angel Wings" by Social Distortion. Now I usually hate Social D, but this song is done by EIB so amazingly, it briefly makes you wonder how Ness wrote such an awesome song. The story I heard when I got my hands on the song was that it was recorded and performed by the band as a wedding gift to a friend, but I don't know for sure.

    I can't find any sort of web presence for this band anymore, which is infuriating because YOU GUYS NEED TO HEAR THIS SONG.

    Here's the original;

    I think my copy of the song was lost in my last computer/hard drive music collection move.

    Type O-Negative's cover of Neil Young's 'Cinnamon Girl'

    A Perfect Circle's cover of Failure's 'The Nurse Who Loved Me'

    Tool's cover of Peach's 'You Lied'

    Metallica covering Killing Joke's 'The Wait' (The version they recorded is better, James' voice isn't what it used to be...)

    you could insert any residents cover version but this one is rather special.

    again, you could insert any of Laibach's many covers in here but this one gives me goosebumps every single time.

    sadly I couldn't find this to preview in full but the Vienna Boys Choir did a pop album a few years back.
    They did one Talking Heads track.
    this one
