    How did they manage to take all of the emotion out of Hot On The Heels Of Love? The original is a hypnotic, cyclical and calculated.

    This cover is so....average.

    Staple Singers - Cover of Slippery People by Talking Heads

    Sound quality is a bit grainy, but you get the funk of it I am sure.

    Elvis Costello did a cover of Yoko Ono's "Walking on Thin Ice" I rather like, but it's impossible to find on the web.
    Myspace has a 1:30 sample. Oh well.

    I don't know about the word "interesting" applying to this cover, but it was certainly one which, this week, caused me a certain amount of angst (being the mad Joy Division fan that I am).

    The Sisters of Mercy cover "John, I'm Only Dancing" (on Wednesday, in the Netherlands)

    (they also covered surf classic "Pipeline" by The Chantays and "Gift that Shines" by Red Lorry Yellow Lorry on their two Leeds gigs last week)

    @The_Toxo_Zombie

    i agree, but the thread is for interesting cover versions, not just good ones, and i think it qualifies in that respect.

    edited to add i've got no clue why the second one won't load, but it's an excellent cover of the swans' no cure for the lonely by nadja off the same album as the slayer cover.

    Just as a heads up, there's an independent radio station called Soma FM that has a station specifically for covers. They have a bunch of other stations that are awesome too.

    You can listen to their stations through their website, special feeds that you only have to load once into iTunes, an iPhone app, or even a free channel on your Roku box.

    Oh yeah, and all of their stations are commercial free.
