It makes sense that Conner didn't/couldn't upgrade Arkady, seeing as she's already a couple of 'boosts' ahead of the rest of them. Even so, it does make me wonder if they'll be able to 'push' each other to higher levels later on, once they've gotten used to their packages, or if this is something rather special to Conner's situation and personality.

It DOES surprise me a bit that Arkady hasn't noticed this something coming, whatever it may be. Seeing as how she can apparently see through the entire planet and whatnot, I mean. But then, the poor dear is fairly constantly distracted for one reason or another.

Brain has been steamrolled over the past couple weeks. I'm starting to get used to it. Wake up at 4am, hit the road around 5-530, 630-300 translate English text of a Web site into Spanish. Race to class. Study Japanese. 730 go home, have dinner, try to do at least one useful thing but mostly pass out around 9. Wake up in a panic at 10. Sort myself out to go to sleep properly by 1130. Find myself unable to sleep until 2 or 3 am.

In a large group of people, they can become muted, overlooked, ignored and underestimated. But when nobody's looking, they are capable of making tough decisions, being quick on their feet, and being much stronger than you'd otherwise expect. It's just that once you discover what they are capable of, you begin to expect that strength much more than they are used to. So they keep their talents and strength secret, hidden under layers of bookishness, low self-esteem and a quiet demeanor.

And then they make people's heads light up with brainfire.

The week ended better than it began, let me say that much. Tomorrow begins two weeks of vacation for me, the first week I'll be spending in the Chicago-land area, and then next week I'll be in Austin for a few days. The other night I worked a 17-hour shift, and my body hurts. Put a nice pic in the SPIT, and felt a little bad-ass. I'm looking forward to spending time with old friends and rarely-seen family back up in Chicago, and Rockford, IL. Columbus day weekend in Austin I'm hoping it'll be laid back. Planning on going back up for Halloween, because I just love Austin on Halloween.

It's a big world. Just in England there's got to be a hundred places Mark could set up his life with as many drones as he wants and not have anything to do with the Angels. I think either he wants them dead and defeated for the damage they have done to his ego, which he possibly doesn't admit to himself, or he's drawn to them which he definitely doesn't admit to himself.

But anyway, I'm posting this at 4:30 in the damn morning because I was woken by a dream. Now, I don't usually lay awake at nights thinking about Freakangels (sorry Warren, guys) but I don't rule out the possibility of random prescient visions. So here's what I dreamed: Kirk revealed what he thought of as "The Writers" to a few fellow Angels including Connor, for some reason involving getting them to shut up about something. These "Writers" were a couple of people hidden in the dark three floors below ground level, chained by the necks and forced to sit in front of a toilet which seemed to serve as their source of food, water and inspiration. They were quiet and afraid of the light. Their lips and eyelids looked gnawed off. One of them held something tiny and brown up in both his hands and looked at it like it was the Grail.

But I'm sure it was just some left-field random dream, right?
