Nope, did not see that one coming. Go, Connor! I think he's redeemed himself for his self-pitying "I'm leaving because nobody cares" stunt.

HOLY SHITBALLS!!! MOTHERFUCKING HOLYHELL *long utterance of incoherent babble and foul language*

That was...well, let's be honest, that WAS FUCKING LEGENDARY!!! Mr. Ellis and Mr. Duffield, it is official, Freakangels is now my favorite comic series, hands down, no competition is going to ever match this brilliance!!!

I need sugar free Red Bulls, an IV hooked up to me filled with Vodka, and my Freakangels hardcovers, everything else is negotiable. Kudos, sirs!

*my mind has been blown, and it feels so good*

*smile* That's all I got. I couldn't even pull together a coherent response to the last episode. So I guess I'll just leave it at: these make me smile. A lot.

Brain has been steamrolled over the past couple weeks. I'm starting to get used to it. Wake up at 4am, hit the road around 5-530, 630-300 translate English text of a Web site into Spanish. Race to class. Study Japanese. 730 go home, have dinner, try to do at least one useful thing but mostly pass out around 9. Wake up in a panic at 10. Sort myself out to go to sleep properly by 1130. Find myself unable to sleep until 2 or 3 am.

I'm not in a hurry to see if I can keep this up. Thankfully, the assignment should end on Monday (please oh please) Then I can get my brain back.

There was scary heat on Monday. Two people I know ended up in the hospital. Week cooled off to pleasant, with thunderstorms. I was absent to all of this due to being in an office with no windows and AC on full blast (on the day with the hottest temps recorded in LA's history I wore two jackets).

Wow, I didn't know Connor had the power to give everyone else upgrades without them dying first. Which, I think it makes sense because he's the observant one of the group.

But does that mean Arkady and the others who have already died before get another upgrade on top of that? Hm.

Well, unfortunately for me I'm an one piece reader too, so I was a bit numb because of this week's chapter. (for those who don't follow, One Piece went on a 4-week break 4 weeks ago. And it was a change of things in the whole series too!)
But still, amazing! A storm is coming...

Well, it was the first week of this semester (problems involving a professor's strike) and it was pretty dull. And I will be broke from buying my books.

This is where Connor continues to remind me of people I've known over the years.

In a large group of people, they can become muted, overlooked, ignored and underestimated. But when nobody's looking, they are capable of making tough decisions, being quick on their feet, and being much stronger than you'd otherwise expect. It's just that once you discover what they are capable of, you begin to expect that strength much more than they are used to. So they keep their talents and strength secret, hidden under layers of bookishness, low self-esteem and a quiet demeanor.

And then they make people's heads light up with brainfire.

The week ended better than it began, let me say that much. Tomorrow begins two weeks of vacation for me, the first week I'll be spending in the Chicago-land area, and then next week I'll be in Austin for a few days. The other night I worked a 17-hour shift, and my body hurts. Put a nice pic in the SPIT, and felt a little bad-ass. I'm looking forward to spending time with old friends and rarely-seen family back up in Chicago, and Rockford, IL. Columbus day weekend in Austin I'm hoping it'll be laid back. Planning on going back up for Halloween, because I just love Austin on Halloween.

Two weeks with no work! Let the drunkening begin!

Well that certainly moved the plot along. I love it when writers do something unexpected—it’s such a nice way of reminding me to not be a cynical twat all the time.

That was fucking gorgeous. Well done, Mr. Ellis.

I had a thought: What if what Mark is afraid of is the Steampunk Tower of the Future™?

It's a big world. Just in England there's got to be a hundred places Mark could set up his life with as many drones as he wants and not have anything to do with the Angels. I think either he wants them dead and defeated for the damage they have done to his ego, which he possibly doesn't admit to himself, or he's drawn to them which he definitely doesn't admit to himself.

But anyway, I'm posting this at 4:30 in the damn morning because I was woken by a dream. Now, I don't usually lay awake at nights thinking about Freakangels (sorry Warren, guys) but I don't rule out the possibility of random prescient visions. So here's what I dreamed: Kirk revealed what he thought of as "The Writers" to a few fellow Angels including Connor, for some reason involving getting them to shut up about something. These "Writers" were a couple of people hidden in the dark three floors below ground level, chained by the necks and forced to sit in front of a toilet which seemed to serve as their source of food, water and inspiration. They were quiet and afraid of the light. Their lips and eyelids looked gnawed off. One of them held something tiny and brown up in both his hands and looked at it like it was the Grail.

But I'm sure it was just some left-field random dream, right? Kirk wouldn't keep secrets like that, right?

Ah, Luke gets an upgrade as well which means we're talking about double upgrades to get caught up with Arkady? Or perhaps it doesn't work that way? Maybe it's all just a matter of opening up perceptions to let things and new perspectives of reality "flood in" [see what I did there?], which then it's up to every single Angel to work with and expand, or not? That would explain perhaps how Connor is able to upgrade everyone else- because he came into it aware that he was having an upgrade he was simply more able to poke at it and make things happen than the others ever were.

Though I hope that the fact that he's in a "twixt life and death" state is also a factor, because otherwise the "oh, we can upgrade each other, like, whenever" would:
    1. make Connor's remote-controlled upgrade way too convenient and arbitrary a storytelling device
    2. would soon turn this into DBZ, with KK using her Super-Super Sayan powers to draw chi from the Earth and defeat the "Steampunk Tower of the Future™" [lol @Jenny Creed- Also, I can't believe Spellcheck doesn't recognize "Sayan" as a word]

Whoa. That was unexpected. Go Connor!

I came back from Beijing last night. Traveled with an old roommate to meet another old roommate. Had pretty much one of the best trips in my life so far.

i didn't see luke shown getting an upgrade, arkady didn't get one - so it seems to me to have been a bit more targetted than you are suggesting. what would be the point of having a revelation of being able to bring on upgrades without being dead and not also having the skill to target where those upgrades go? i mean, obviously it might be happening "off-camera" so to speak with luke, but why be sp specific in showing all the other freakangels in that case?
