@Andre: And yet, two of my female friends looking over my shoulder at the latter image made noises of carnal lust. Or possibly indigestion - sometimes its hard to tell with them.

    CHOPS

The 'chops are a favor/gift for the girlfriend. I'm taking the fact that she requested these for more than two months (using such phrases as "I can't grow them, you have to do it for me!") as evidence that we were meant to be together. Sorry for the low-quality and the gamma radiation.

    EDIT:

    CHOPS2

    Slightly better picture.

Do they usually get turned on by thick-lipped, crook-nosed, sleep-deprived Brazilians?

Nice chops, by the way. You pull off the look.

Man, Argos, you're beautiful! And you're right, Andre is quite cute :)

Ah, I became frustrated by the negative comments being made today in the news about various ethnic groups and about the general state of the world by some people and I felt inspired to take a different spin on things. Forgive me if it's cheesy, but it's honest. I posted it as a note on my Facebook page, because I wasn't quite sure what else to do. I thought I would share here.

    Day 294-Hope
As I read the news, especially in our current political climate, I am frequently frustrated. It seems that so many of us waste so much time and energy hating one another that we have forgotten how to love one another. I know that prejudice and racism have always existed, and they probably always will, but it is my hope that things can get better. As a student of history I have studied many wars that were waged over religion and ethnicity. It seems that frequently, the more things change the more they stay the same. I have found hope, however, in a wonderful place . . . my classroom.

I teach at Harrisonburg High School. Our "little" city of Harrisonburg has the highest percentage of ESL students in the entire state of Virginia. We are diverse with a capital "D." In my classroom I teach students who are of many races and nationalities. My classroom makes up a microcosm of the world. I have students who are Black, White, Latino, Asian, and from the Middle East--they are Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Hindu, and Muslim. Yet, in this class we have harmony. The students get along, they joke with one another. They ask each other questions about their various races and religions without animosity. I walk through the halls and I hear English, Spanish, Kurdish, Ukrainian, and so many more different languages. While I know that there are going to be times when some of the kids will not get along with each other-- what I witness in my class gives me hope.

-I have hope that someday people of different political parties will work together for the common good instead of individual and corporate interests.

-I have hope that people of different races will get along with each other and work together.

-I have hope that someday religion will not be a cause for war and that we will be tolerant and respectful of our differences.

-I have hope that someday people will be free to love one another no matter what their gender identity or sexual orientation without fear and harassment.

I know that these things are far off if they are ever going to happen . . . but I hope that one day what I see in my classroom will be what I witness outside of it as well.

After all--all Pandora left in her box for us was hope.

@Argos and @Dorkmuffin, both of you are the people whose smiles just blow me away with happiness. You're gorgeous.

Day 4 of being back in NYC and I'm still having a bit of trouble getting back in to the swing of things.
