the early chapters may have some crude drawings but the creator, Tom Siddell, goes from adequate to put across his ideas to simply good by any standards.

Gunnerkrigg Court just has the capacity to have even the most cynical reader put aside the cynical and critical faculties, in part because of sheer charm of it and the world that he creates but largely because Tom Siddell has such an uncanny knack for storytelling that he avoids all the flaws and pitfalls that would trip up a less accomplished creator.

That being said though, the robot king's face is totally a stand-alone dramatic moment which few if any comics will ever be able to manage, and it needs no context. It is totally a sad face :( ]]>
