I'd be there with bells on this weekend if I didn't currently live in New Zealand. I'm grumpy it's not going to get to the bottom of the world a bit sooner. My parents (who NEVER see movies in theaters) are super excited to see it, and to support you, so they might actually go watch it down at the local mall in SoCal.
They are... disturbingly enthusiastic about the concept of geriatric assassins.
Definitely planning on it, if I can find the time. Worked all last weekend, am at work now (9:30 my time), may work straight through. Might just have to sneak away, I work next door to a movie theater.
After working in a movie theater for a while, I decided to avoid going to those buildings on the weekends if it was at all feasible. Too many people, too much trash. I try to see movies around Monday to Wednesday, usually. I think I'll ask a friend if he's free to see it on the 18th. His birthday was last month and we never got around to doing anything special.
I plan on it this weekend or next. I saw the NYC get together and was think if anyone from San Francisco is up to see it in a group that would be great.
I usually wait a while until the crowds have died down so I can have a cinema to myself. Nothing quite ruins your cinema experience like a bunch of cunts/teenagers who won't shut the fuck up throughout the whole film.
Ah, someone else who shares my complete contempt for the Nottingham Cineworld. I find that the trick to a good experience there is to either see films rated 18 there, go on a weekday, see long films or just wait until the nobs have already seen it.
Failing that, I find yelling "shut the fuck up" works wonders - especially with teenagers in groups because they're all cowards as soon as someone calls them out on their shit.
There was also an occasion where two girls felt like holding a conversation directly behind me during Four Lions, but after telling them to shut up a few times they just left after ten minutes. I enjoyed the rest of the film in peace.
Unbelievably, I've never been to Broadway. It's something I must rectify.
@Newspaperdrone - please enact rectification measures ASAP. Beyond the comfy seats and nice actual-film-loving audiences, the most awesome thing about the Broadway is you can take a beer from the bar into the screen-room.
I've just checked their website, but they only show the listings until the end of the month so I can't tell if they will be showing it or not.
If not, then I'll have to deal with the devil and wait for the rush of idiots to die down before heading into Cineworld...(the last time I went their was for Watchmen, they had their PA turned up so loud I was half considering making a complaint to the HSE about dangerously unsafe sound pressure levels - it was actually physically painful to sit through some of the fight scenes...)
My girlfriend actually got us a couple of prepaid cinema tickets for my birthday, saying how she knew I was looking forward to RED and that we should save them until it came out. So yeah, I'm totally there when it opens in the UK.
