I've been playing World of Warcraft for a while now, and still enjoy it. I've been trying a trial of City of Heroes, but I can't afford to take on a second addiction, I mean, game right now.

I got bored with WoW after hitting the late 30's with a couple of characters. I did get into the whole auction house thing and was spending half my time buying and selling items for a big gold stash. Ultimately I realised I had better things to do...

Still play some COD4 for stress relief and I didn't really get anywhere with Second Life. Maybe I'll give that another go.

I have been tempted by City of Heroes/Villains a few times but never got around to installing the freebies. I like the idea of playing an Ellis/Ennis style character.

I was once entirely too hooked on WoW, and I'm also an alt-whore RPer who gets a character inspiration like a batshit crazy prophet and simply has to go make one, but once I filled up a couple servers' worth of characters I started to realize how grind-centric WoW was. Just wasn't cutting it for me eventually.

However, I have since become completely immersed in Lord of the Rings Online. Everyone should seriously go check it out - it sticks with the lore, immerses you in the setting entirely (especially on the unofficial RP server Landroval), PLUS it's only $10/month or $200 for an entire lifetime subscription. The graphics range available caters from everything between el cheapo Dello laptops all the way up to those ridiculously priced gaming systems that require the power of a nearby nuclear reactor to run properly. Excellent solo-content AND party quests as well as PvPing. Even gives you the opportunity once you reach level 10 to jump in as a level 50 'Monster' (Uruk, orc, warg, spider, craziness). Even a seven day free trial.

I've always wanted to try out City of Heroes/Villians, too, but never really had the chance. Heard it's mostly party-centric though, which I don't have much time to do.

I was on World of Warcraft, but it sort of fell by the wayside. Maybe one day...

But considering that since then I have spent untold A4 pages on wacky political stuff for Azeroth, I should probably just drop the idea altogether.

When I first got WoW I thought it was too much fun. (It was the first MMO I had played.) But every time i get a character in their late 20's I realize that the gameplay isn't fun. The only fun part is when you level up or get new stuff. The social aspect isn't that fun either.

I stopped playing for like a year and then found a real life friend who had a copy, so we logged on again. We would hardly ever hang out in real life, and when we did all we would talk about is WoW. A few weeks later we both made the same realization: THE GAMEPLAY ISN'T FUN. It's just mindless mouse clicking.

The only way I seem to have fun gaming these days is when it's a fighting game or FPS with my buddies playing along next to me. Should have never bought that damned 360, especially because HD-DVD went the way of Betamax.
