A bunch of old Paul Simon tunes - "Me & Julio Down by the Schoolyard" at the moment.

So what did you think of the new Pinhas? Seemed to me a fair mix of older Heldon traits and his more recent noise work with Merzbow. But admittedly, I haven't been in the mood for a second listen yet.

Like you say, it sounds exactly like a mix of his guitar/ambient work and his stuff with Merzbow. Not crazy about it but I did like the tracks with drums. Then again, I tend to like those on all his albums.

My song of choice today is the schizophrenia-ridden Leather Penny by Manchester mentalists Kong.
    I love the video too.

I always liked the Heldon moments when they sounded like a combination of King Crimson and Can. But Pinhas's worship of Robert Fripp is sometimes almost embarassing; though on the other hand he plays in "classic Fripp/King Crimson" style which is nice to hear since Fripp himself doesn't do that much anymore.

getting somewhat into deadbolt lately, mostly because they sound like the sisters of mercy mercilessly assraping the cramps, but also because they apparently came up with "voodoobilly".

    to wit....

    and the perhaps funnier....

in my defense, i like good music too.

but am apparently completely unable to make the damn embed work...will fix when i get some more time....

Pretty good collection of electronica/modern composition, featuring pieces by David Shea, DJ Spooky and David Toop among others.

I didn't think I'd heard this until a friend of mine sent it via Spotify. As soon as the vox kicked in I remembered seeing it live about five years ago and the skin melting off my face for the epicness.

The last four minutes completely fucking floor me.

listened to DANGER DAYS: FABULOUS LIVES OF THE KILLJOYS. its a huge letdown for me. still a few good songs, but the majority feels slowed down, poppier (in a bad way) and lighter. they have pretty much always been pop, but it usually had more aggression, some teeth to it. most of this record just isnt for me. nnow, considering how hard i got trapped by the magic of THE BLACK PARADE, theres that whole thought of there being NO WAY i would have been happy with this record (unless it was 40 second powerviolence songs, which, uhhhh would make my head a-splode). first single NA NA NA is great, there are two more songs on here that i would want to listen to again...can i get those on a 7". a picture disc one, if possible.

The Hostage remix of 'Uptown Top Ranking' by Althea & Donna is doing it for me, in an IT'S FRIDAY! kind of way. Free to DL from his soundcloud page.

Also? I'm going to see Leftfield tomorrrow at Glasgow's finest dancehall, The Barrowlands. It has a sprung dancefloor; three of the best / most insane gigs of my life took place there. Should be epic. So

[bonus points for the unexpected Metropolis footage on the vid...]

I've listened to nothing but Darkstar's "North", Clint Mansell's "Pi" soundtrack and Hanin Elias's "Future Noir" for the past couple of days. Trying to motivate myself to get out of bed with some Vsnares.
