Inspired to revive this by Simon Reynolds' current embloggery.
This is a thread where I am going to post videos of old musics I find on the webs that appeal to me, probably because they're out of the ark and I remember them from when I was young and had hair.
No-one else may post videos or links to this thread. This is for me. Commenting is encouraged, but only I get to post videos in this thread. No copycat threads, please.
Also, I was thinking about this today. Or, at least, about the summer it partly defines for me. 18, living with a girl for the first time -- for most of each week, going back "home" for a few days each week because it was closer to my job, which was managing a pub that was being run down by the landlord. It was a proper old spit-and-sawdust pub in the middle of nowhere. Six months later, it was a hole in the ground, and six months after that it was shiny plastic Aunt Fanny's Restaurant And Grill (or something similar). A lot of time on my own in an empty pub (or almost empty - sometimes there were illegal immigrants living upstairs, being staged for jobs), playing this on the tape deck because it reminded me of her. And then having to change the tape to some yellowed played-smooth rock compilation tape favoured by the timewarped locals.
Broadcast were never a band i actively sought out but instead were one of those bands that were an unexpected pleasure to hear everytime they did appear on a hi-fi somewhere. sad times - excellent choice of song.
...wait, did I see the Cuban Boys up there? Holy shit I owned that single then set fire to it a few years later, along with Alice Deejay's Better Off Alone.
