@Kevin - When we were in Florida, Gabe was intentionally using the brush just BECAUSE he didn't like it, figured if there was a time and place to give it another shot it would be there. Respect the guy immensely. There were a number of people down there that it felt strange to refer to as a "peer" because their work was so far and away better than my own, and he was definitely one of them.
Separate note, another PP study I busted out last night of McHaine, the meanest mother on Mars.
Great stuff this month. Here are some of my recent paintings. A couple of mash ups, a painting of one of my old Masters of the Universe toys, and a large (48'x24") abstract painting.

Duke Disputes Discomposure.
Not sure if anyone here is into abstract art. Red3.
My second version of this week's David Lynch directed SPIDER MAN movie poster:
and the first one:
Decided to go a bit analogue for the imagery; all the shadow images in the back are a paper cut-out taped on a stick and a flashlight = OMINOUS SHADOWS!
I've been making fractal desktop images this week using Fractal Extreme. They are all 1920x1080 bitmaps, suitable for a widescreen monitor on optimal setting. You can view and download all 11 of them here
This one is my favourite. I jiggered the Mandelbrot algorithm from its normal Z=Z*Z+C to Z+Z^3.141592653589+C, hoping to achieve some circular structures, and I found this weird bullseye at 2^72 magnification. It took about eight hours to resolve on my high end computer, using 4x4 antialiasing and 100,000 iterations per calculation.
Finally! Here's the video for Thomas Dolby's song "The Toadlickers" from the 'Amerikana' EP that came out this summer. THOMAS DOLBY: "THE TOADLICKERS"
It's got puppets, parkour, burlesque dancers, bluegrass-techno hybrid music, what's not to love?
I had nothing to do with this video, but it's still cool, and comes on the event horizon of Dolby's new EP 'Oceanea', which will again be available to the digital world at the end of November. You can find more info at Thomas Dolby's website.
Here's a sneak peak at the cover, which WAS designed/photo directed by me.
Mr. Dolby and I have been VERY busy these last few months, and as Warren recently said, it's a bit like working in a well; lots of work, but nothing I can show people, which is both exciting and frustrating, but ultimately exciting, because Dolby is one smart guy, and the stuff we've been working on is going to geek this crowd out big time! More soon, friends!
There's some great stuff here as always, definitely my favourite thread. This is the cover of my comic that I recently finished and self published. It's my first full comic so I'm pretty excited by it.
Here's another little piece for a 3 page practice comic I did a while back:
