I'm driving up to San Francisco on Thursday (11/11/2010) and will be there through Sunday. I know there are a number of San Franciscans here... anyone want to meet up?

I'm staying near the Cartoon Art Museum, and was planning on seeing it in the afternoon on either Friday or Saturday. It's open 11AM to 5PM, so I was thinking if a meetup were to occur, we might meet there in the afternoon, and then walk over to a restaurant nearby for dinner and/or drinks.

If you're okay with dive bars, there are three recommended spots from Yelp patrons:

Dave's (29-3rd Street, between Kearney & Market)
Beale Street Bar & Grill (142 Minna Street @ New Montgomery)
Tempest Bar & Restaurant (431 Natoma Street, between 5th Street & Kearney). This is also a smoker's bar, which I suspect will make it an instant win for some Whitechapelians

Steff's Sports Bar (141-2nd Street, between Minna & Natoma) is a neighborhood bar, but doesn't serve food.

A little more upscale are:

John Collins (138 Minna Street @ New Montgomery), with moderately pricey drinks
Dada (86-2nd Street @ Mission)

@eightser - I may not be able to get out on Saturday night after all - it's up in the air... my friend Charlie, who I am technically visiting, had cancelled her birthday party because she was sick, but has recovered quicker than expecting and may now be reinstating the event. So I'll probably be in Berkeley doing that on Saturday night.

But I'm enjoying SF so much, and live just down in LA, so I will absolutely be visiting again in the not too distant future. Maybe we can arrange a bigger Whitechapel meetup in early 2011?
