I've seen AJJ twice and they've been amazing both times. First time was in San Antonio with far too many people crammed into a bar and the band looked noticeably concerned for their own safety. Second time was in London and some guy tried to fight me because I was dancing.
@allana, @SilentObjector - Thanks for the well-wishes!
@everyone - AJJ are, indeed, super good. I've been fortunate enough to have them be a "local band" for years, but I've enjoyed them every time I've seen them, even when it's just Sean and his acoustic.
I still owe AJJ two bucks from a sort of impromptu show they played in a park in my town a few years ago (I only had three on me and I wanted to buy their CD (which was five bucks) and they said no worries). I'm not going to the Troubadour to give it to them, though.
It's not the Troubadour specifically. I'm just not a fan of that stretch of Santa Monica Blvd (nightmarish parking, which is pretty much par for the course in L.A., and too close to Beverly Hills for my taste). If you were playing the El Rey or The Smell I'd probably be there (though if you were playing The Smell you'd probably be looking at a tenth of what you'll probably be getting from the Troubadour. It just has the benefit of being half a block from The Edison, so I could get some drinks there afterwards).
