We're going to launch one of these threads a month. And down the months and years, we'll build up not only a mugshot parade of visitors to Whitechapel -- but also, for those who choose to participate monthly, there'll be a record of how we all change and grow (and in my case age horribly).

Obviously, I encourage participation from everyone, even if you're just joining the place. This thread is certainly NOT just for the old lags. In fact, the more new faces the better.

So. Take a photo of yourself and post it (if you're not sure how -- you put a photo on the web somewhere, a free hosting site like Flickr or Photobucket or your LJ gallery if you use LJ -- Blogger image hosting won't work -- and click the "img" button above to put the address of the image in, the http://) here.

I'll get to mine once I'm, you know... piss off, I'm busy...

what a fuckin' week. was supposed to hand off a complicated series of videos last friday and then my fucking mac dies on me with an unrecoverable drive 2 days before the deadline. not 10 minutes ago i hand off the drive with the redos to be driven out to ottawa where it'll be displayed at an exhibit tomorrow night. this is a project that had video interviews done with subtitles, voiceovers and ASL/LSQ translations. all 4 languages. i had to get someone else to redo the french half while i filmed the ASL/LSQ translations and redid the english subtitles.

i need a beer.

the snows have come. Which means the return of the aviator jacket and the steampunk look. However, this is jacket#2 of these, as the last one fell apart. So now I have a 'vintage' (second hand) one which is warmer. Knowing that you're wearing half a sheep is somehow comforting, considering how many of the damn things i must've eaten over the years.

Oddbill your frames are AWESOME! (I'm currently on the hunt for new ones and can't find any I love).

Anyway, I did this last night, for a performance art project for one of my classes. No one can say UCSD is boring. NO ONE.
(Technically not self shot, but I did take the video for it on my laptop, I needed multiple hands).

@Argos - Thanks! I got them a couple of years ago through Zenni Optical. You need your prescription info, and you measure your own pupil distance (they explain how), then pick frames, order and wait. They ship from China, so it can take a while. Mine took about a month. (added bonus: they were late because of customs. Zenni found out (I did not contact them or complain), and just sent me a second pair for free. Both arrived on the same day. So now I have a spare set!)

They only cost about $30.00. Prescription lenses, the frames and shipping. $30.00.

The frames are very well made. They are inexpensive, but not cheap. They fit very well and the feel great. They cost so little I wasn't afraid to take a chance ordering them without trying them on first. The lenses were fine too, even though it wasn't an optometrist who put in the order. After a while my prescription changed, and I had my optometrist put in new lenses in these frames. Cost for optometrist-ground lenses? $300.00!

Three hundred dollars for a US Optometrist to put in the order, for just lenses, or thirty dollars to put in the order yourself, for lenses, frames and everything. I mean, Jesus Christ! Keep in mind that three hundred was NOT for the optometrist's actual examination and writing the prescription. For that, there was a charge for examination. Someone's profession is protected from competition, I think.

Heh. I'm not really taunting. Not exactly....
I mean, Warren is on that list of celebrated people where new photos of them tend to make me smile.
It is, however, an incredibly rare thing for him to post one. I'm well aware I don't have the power to motivate or the subtlety to manipulate him, but I thought what the hell I'd give it a go just on the off chance he was in some strange mood where he was craving knocking us all out with his best suave shot and my dorky comment was just the excuse he needed.

@DavidLejeune - train stations work just as good as mountains! My extended family has all congregated at my once-gramma's-now-aunt's house on Christmas Eve every year since before I was born. This year I decided I wanted to at least NOT deal with them on my fucking birthday. Therefore, I swallowed the nausea and walked 1.5 miles to the train station, went one town away, and spent 2 hours in a Starbucks, then sat for 4 hours in the train station. By the time i got back home, everyone was gone or asleep! And there were still mountains of leftovers! Fuck yeah! (wish I wasn't pukey)

I have no new photos of myself. But I'll give you better incarnations of the bowl-mullet, and on Christmas Eve I think.

Seems my fashion sense hasn't changed much.

Of course there's reason for the change in mood. I seem to have a daughter now. No, get all the scandalous thoughts out of your head. She’s not mine in any biological sense. I’ve known Taylor for a couple of years now and I’ve watched her go through a lot. She’s had numerous family issues, moved from home to home, spent a lot of time dealing with health problems and throughout everything has remained the sweetest and smartest young lady I have ever known.
For awhile she has looked at me as a father figure and I’ve recently discovered that I look at her with the protective eye of a father. I never knew I had parental urges. Apparently I’ve learned something new about myself, and any year that you can say that is a good one. We’ve since shed some of the ambiguity, I do think of Taylor as my daughter now and I can’t imagine that ever changing.
Her report card is on my fridge. You should have seen the pride on her face when she handed it to me. Anyway, here’s my girl, Taylor…..

Not quite a "self"

I went to see The Pee Wee Herman Show on Broadway the night of the snomageddon in NYC. I made friends with the security guards, being rather confused as to the TKTS process, and by the sounds and lights above us that seemed to indicate thunder and lightning (which it indeed was).

After the show, gathering all my crap, taking forever to leave the building which was practically empty, one of them told me that if I went around the side that I could meet the actors. He told me I was probably too late to see Pee Wee. “But Phil LaMarr will still be there, right?” I asked. When I was told that I’d probably get to meet him, I explained that I was bent on meeting LaMarr because he’d been the voice of Green Lantern in Justice League Unlimited.

“No WAY!”

“Nah, really, it was totally him.”

And off I bounced around the corner, where another of the security guards I’d spoken to earlier was standing guard at the side door in question. He sadly told me i’d missed Pee Wee, and i again asked about Phil Lamarr, and why I was excited to see him.

“No WAY!”

“Nah, really, he was totally Green Lantern!”

After a few minutes, the security guard invited me behind the guard rails, so I could meet the man. As I was chatting, and being a big huge dork, the previous security guard came down the hall way.

“Damn, did you know he was Green Lantern?” he asked the other fellow.

“Nah, man, she just told me, too!”

at which point a third security guard was intrigued.

“You were Green Lantern?!”

And Phil LaMarr did a bit of the voice, to everyone’s joy. Everyone was happy and excited.

“Damn, man! I was pissed you didn’t get with Hawk Girl!” said one of the fellows.

and then they took this dorky photograph for me.
