Student writes a thesis on a flaw in the UK banking system that was exposed in 2009 that would allow fraudulent No-PIN transactions. Reps from said banking system write to Cambridge and ask them to censor the thesis because they feared it would "undermine" people's confidence in the UK banking system.

Suffice to say, Cambridge was having none of that and their response boils down to "SOD OFF!"

@RenThing - The hilarious bit is that the paper in question was not new research, but was instead originally revealed by the guy writing the response letter. The whole thing is a pile of "You should have listened to us the first time, you stupid bastards."

It's Stan Lee's eighty-eighth birthday. Whethere this is a good thing or a bad thing is of course entirely up to you. I wonder if, WHEN HE FINALLY DIES, Warren will have Stan's head on his desk, next to Kirby's. (Hopefully, he'll give Kirby a robotic foot with which to kick Stan in the face ...)

Stan lee? That's the guy from all those movies, right? Or was that Hugh Hefner?

    Seriously, happy birthday either way.

Oh, certainly. My favorite line at the end is where the letter-writer says it's nice to hear they've finally fixed a security issue that was brought to their attention in 2009.
