Having only just got back to the internet after a weekend of fun and games at the All Tomorrows Parties festival in minehead, I am glad to report that Godspeed You! Black Emperor were incredible.

I potentially could have seen them play on all 3 days and am a bit gutted that I didn't. They played pretty much every song they had plus a whole bunch of new ones. Anyone seeing them on their upcoming tour be very very excited.

also, on a side note, weird al yankovic was also incredible!

@offtandiscord - I got to see back to back performances way back in 02 or 03, it was amazing. The first event was in a small club and the second was in a large venue. I took a spot beside the projectionist for both concerts
and was able to differentiate between the written and improvised parts of the show. Both the musicians and the projectionist are making a lot of this stuff on the spot. It was also wild that the two shows, while using almost identical set lists, where completely different. The first one was melancholic and brooding, and the second show was a ripping non stop sonic explosion dance party. Nice to hear they are still kicking, I'll be watching for any Toronto dates.

I saw them a few times back in the day but was gutted when I failed to gather fundage for the ATP shows. Glad to hear they are still blowing minds. Are they around on a more permenant basis these days?

I've still not seen Godspeed, but caught A Silver Mt Zion a few months ago, and was blown away. Sure, there was the aural assault, which I relished, but I hadn't anticipated how charismatic Efrim is -- I can't say I enjoy his voice, but it's compelling and authentic.

I saw them all three times. NO REGRETS.
Set was different each time, everyone going to the other shows should be dead excited.

They opened with Storm last night. It's basically been in my top ten songs of all time since I bought Lift Yr Skinny Fists and now I've seen it live. I am so glad they reunited.

    Saw GODSPEED thread.
    Read thread.
    OMGWTFBBQGSY!BEBackTogther???
Went to website of their last 3 UK dates.
TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE FOR LAST SHOW?
    Ordered tickets.
    Lost mind.

Can't believe this is real. Will not, in fact, believe it until I am there and I see them.
Have nightmarish feeling that tickets will vanish, or not exist, or venue will turn out to be a vacant lot.

A very lovely review of the Manchester gig I went to, over at The Dreaded Press:
    GY!BE at Manchester Academy, 7th December 2010

Listening to Godspeed You! Black Emperor play live was like having someone you love dearly hold your hand while you die.

I usually stop trying to describe what it's like when people's eyes begin to glaze over.

FFFFFFFUUUUUUU England only? God damn it. HEY GSY!BE you have US fans too ya know! Oh and M3t4 I feel your pain, I used to live in Montana before moving to Texas. More music here and less red necks. Odd but true.

However, massive cop out here yay GSY!BE for getting back together for some new material. Anyone care to post a bootleg?
