I'm not terribly sure if it's OK to post this - if not, please feel free to lock.

While I can't physically attend, I'm happy to announce that my work will be featured among 20 artists and photographers at 'The Art of Urban Exploration' gallery event, which will be happening Saturday, December 18 2010 at the RecCenter Studio (1161 Logan Street, Echo Park, California) from 2PM 4PM to 12 Midnight.

If you're in the area and not busy, I highly recommend dropping in. There will be bands, food and cash bar. The show is for all ages.

    Performers include:

    Mankind is Obsolete
Flip Cassidy and the Junkyard Gospel
Alice (featuring live modern dance performances)
    Bash
    Trash Axis
    Insects v.s. Robots

More information on the event can be found at the Facebook Event listing or at the blog

I'm glad this got a bump, FC - I didn't see it until now, and that Gallery is not far from me!

I should be able to get there. If I do I'll take pictures and post them here.

@ FC, living in the frozen city of Toronto I can only dream of a Californian gallery excursion. Give us some pics so I can pretend that I'm there! (( do a lot of urban exploration myself and am very curious about this multi-media event) Good luck

@Oddbill ooh, very cool :D Yeah, if you do get a chance, take a few snaps and show me what it was like! It should be a pretty big show as far as I know, so there should be a lot to see.

@Hey Apathy: Also living in Toronto, i can sympathize with you here - i wish i could go too! As for my urban exploration stuff, i've posted now and then on the Photographer threads, but here's a slowly growing set I've been keeping on my Flickr.

Somewhere along the line, either i was mistaken about the start time or it got changed. This is actually starting at 4PM, NOT 2PM as I wrote above. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sweet, I'm really looking forward to them! I have only been seeing some snippets about it here and there since most folks haven't put up photos of the event yet, but I'm really anxious to see just what the space was like. It sounds like it was a lot of fun :D

    Set Title

That's a link to a gallery of 30 images from the event. They're ok - they give a decent idea of the space and what was going on, but unfortunately I tried doing them all without a flash on long exposures, and my camera is not great, so they came out a little blurry most of the time. They're not terrible, but there were a lot of photographers there that night, so I'm sure some far superior pictures will start making their way online as the week goes on.

I wish I could have recorded the bands - they were terrific - I didn't plan on staying as late as I did, but I couldn't leave because of all the great music.

    In particular this guy:

    Bash

It's hard to see, but he is playing the bass upside down, bracing it up with his leg, while singing into a mic that is taped to the bass, and also while the drummer drums on the bass itself with his sticks.

    Unbelievably, this sounded great.
