Bankara, I can't wait to see more. The 6 String Samurai shot is absolutely freakin' gorgeous.

Bankara: Leica M9 - it was quite (QUITE) dear,(my wallet is a smoking ruin) but it appears to be worth every cent so far. Being able to use my vintage lenses properly with a full-frame digital sensor is pretty mind-blowing.

@Coop, Woooooooo yeah, that little red badge she costs but you can't argue with the quality. I love the look of vintage lenses too so I tend to pick up old M42 Screwmount lenses, mostly Pentax Asahi and the old East German Karl Zeiss Jena lenses to use with an adaptor on my 1Ds MKii. Cheap, high quality prime optics with manual focus and aperture make me feel more like I am actually using a camera. I love digital but old habits die hard, y'know? Its like using the body as a back for the lenses, all of which have their own feel and look that tends to dictate how I shoot.

Nggh - COOP, Bankara, don't start off my camera lust... it's already bad enough that I have severe guitar lust right now... have to make my battered D200 last a bit longer...

Bankara : try the Voigtlander SLII series. There are versions of the 20mm F3.5, 40mm F2 (both of these are pancake-type lenses) and 90mm for Canon EF mount. I love my 40mm (even more than my old Voigtlander 55mm 1.4), it's almost always on my camera. And it's quite affordable too. It'd look like a gnome lens on a 1DS though :).

@ J0nCarp3nter, I will stop now and not hijack this thread into camera geekery. I must remember to curtail my obsession or else vent it over on photo.net where I will seem like a normal well adjusted person in comparison to the members of that forum. I love the landscapes, you captured some amazing light in those. I wouldn't worry about a camera upgrade if you've got a good handle on the lighting. One of my photo teachers said a great thing to me once that eased my mind about camera equipment : "Amateurs worry about gear, professionals worry about money, masters worry about light."
@oscillateur, I will check those out, thanks for the heads-up on the Voightlanders. I admit that I too am feeling the antsy for the new fancy after 6 months of having only 3 lenses in my kit. That shot I was using a superwide 24mm prime that I was testing from a camera shop, I can't remember which one because I ultimately decided it wasn't worth it. I can't really afford new lenses right now but I am going to take your recommendation over to eBay right now and window shop! -

I know, I know... have too many bloody cameras as it is... it kind of comes from hankering after a digital equivalent of my lovely old F100, with a big bright viewfinder and a full frame sensor so I can use my prime lenses properly again. Can't really go back to film, but the cameras were so much nicer.
And of course, actually getting off my backside and taking pictures again seriously would be good...
To echo Oldhat, that guitarist shot is lovely. -

oh, and I don't have it scanned in anywhere, but probably the best picture I've ever taken was with a 1950s Kodak Hawkeye Brownie. now that I have a halfway decent digital as my main, I'm finding that the flexibility and options occasionally get in the way as much or more than the gross limitations of my old point and shoot. -
OK, seriously going to take a break now from editing, my eyes are gonna bleed out if I keep up like this
