i get to cheat when I take that one out, actually: the bakelite hawkeyes are big enough to fit a 120 in the payout slot, so I only have to respool it once I've exposed the frames to save my 620 takeup reel. that one's gone into retirement in favor of the rollei now, because the scratches it puts into the film are getting a bit too noticeable, especially on images needing fixing. Case in point: I had to fix that one a bit to get the contrast decent, and the second i started messing with it digitally, the lines jumped out hard.
also from that camera, with a flying elbow cropped out of the image:
as far as the unpredictability thing goes, apparently I picked up a disturbingly consistent one. It exposes at pretty close to 50 every time. the only reason I didn't get more than one or two decent frames out of every roll was simply through my own inconsistency in framing my shots and picking subjects.
enough chatter about cameras from me: awesome image of that bell tower.
We had unusual wintry weather yesterday - hail in some places, and it was northeast level cold throughout LA. Downtown didn't get any rain or hail, but we did get an excellent view of the armada of clouds rolling in to pummel the valley. Here's a panorama from my balcony:
Hey all. Been lurking for about a year now since going back to school. But I've found some time to mess around with photo again and felt compelled to contribute since I love WC (and have been selfishly devouring all of your work for a year).
Amazing stuff recently. A few of the many things that should be said: Nice to hear a bit of gear talk, all. Especially on the theme of M42 screwmount - something I've been playing around with recently, but is a bit scuppered at the moment because my M42-Nikon adapter is stuck on the back of one lens. @J0n - lovely stuff. I usually don't like landscapes, but you've got a real eye for 'em. & that last rose picture verges on the pornographic. @shannon - that sax picture is wonderful. @Paul - apparently talent runs in the family. Great ice macro pix. @Joanne - The Delicate Art Of Waterboarding? Fucking fantastic. @COOP - good to see yr stuff again. Looking great. @trini - love the moon picture. Is that slight soft focus/bloom from post production, or in camera? I have a lens that does that, strongly but intermittently. Which I don't understand.
Yikes. Anyway. Hadn't realized how long it had been since I last took a picture I thought was worth uploading. Let's try that again:
